Probably around the pandemic when people became extra wary about hygiene - at least that’s my observation. I’ve also noticed that people listen to voice messages like this - if you’re in a loud environment and don’t have headphones, it kind of makes sense. It still looks stupid, and for normal phone calls it is stupid, since both the earpiece and the microphone are optimised for having the phone on your ear.

One key thing that can help you wrap your head around rebasing is that branches get switched while you’re doing it; so, say you’re on branch feature and do git rebase master, for any merge conflict, whatever’s marked “current” will be on master and what’s “incoming” is from feature.

There’s also git rerere that should in theory remember a resolution you do between two branches and reuse it every time after the first; I’ve rarely used it in practice; it would happen for long lived branches that don’t get merged.

My take is use a GUI for anything read-only/nondestructive (i.e. anything that won’t modify your local or remote state). It’s nice for example to compare the state of two branches.

For anything that does changes make sure you know what’s happening under the hood, otherwise you might shoot yourself in the foot. It’s convenient for example to do a commit and push in one go, but then you lose the ability to edit any changes (you’re forced to either do another commit, or change your local commit and force push).

In VSCode you can go to the Output pane and switch to Git - there you’ll see everything that gets done through Git’s CLI for whatever you do through the GUI (although it can be a bit noisy); same goes other GUI utils.

Agree, and I’d add that it’s not just the film industry. It’s mostly the same shit all throughout entertainment industry as a whole. Take video games for example - each year there are assumingly AAA titles coming out half cooked at release and yet they cost more than they ever have. Thank you very much, I’d much rather just wait a year for you to fix all those bugs and I’ll buy the game at 80% off if it’s any good.

Well, what do they expect? Of course there won’t be much (if any) revenue before release. If you built trust in the audience that you ship quality products from day 1, maybe more people will preorder, but the way it is now it’s rather the opposite.

Maybe it’s about perspective. When smaller phones were the default, other phones were more of an exclusion. When bigger phones became the defacto default, smaller phones started to seem smaller in spec in comparison (mostly battery) while being at about the same price.
