Same as above its a speech to text engine not a recorder but honestly thats all you need

github.com/ewheelerinc/LocalSTT

@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

Vaultwarden behind mutual tls and reverse proxy and github.com/oguzhane/bitwarden-mobile until github.com/bitwarden/mobile/pull/2629 is merged

But honestly all services you mentioned are worthy.

Anything that fits your needs imao

“But, thinking about it now, I doubt it will actually affect the feature”

It will not

We don’t need to import a custom CA authority here just to insatll a client cert

RPI4/400 is perfectly capable as a little home server. All it needs is a good SD card.

Owntracks,photoprism,monocker,brave go m-sync,libre photos,wallabag,radicals e,Baikal,Firefox sync,Joplin web,webdav server,jellyfin,vaultwarden,wireguard

OMV is quite limiting and maybe a little heavy for the pi(?)

Docker is straightforward Idk what to say You install docker and docker compose on host and run some compose.yml’s to spin up your services

I use github.com/…/docker-nginx-webdav-nononsense

There are many dockerised fileservers

Calendar and tasks sync between devices

Ever since I started degoogling my life, i missed how to integrate calendar and tasks in all my devices. Because of my work Im stuck using Macos and I have a debloated samsung device with F-droid. However I need a way of syncing calendars and tasks between Macos and my phone, so I can get push notifications on both of my devices...

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

Davx⁵ has Mac OS caldav carddav server integration so you can sync with it.

www.davx5.com/…/calendar-and-contacts-server

On android you can use simple calendar or etar to view calendars and “tasks” or jtxboard for tasks/journals

Icard is actuality the only alternative that can register as a contactless nfc payment that not relying on google/Apple wallet and its perfectly safe. It’s an actual bank in Bulgaria and is eu regulated and PCI certified

icard.com/en/security

Not Foss. Kinda of a privacy nightmare as you need to verify your identity and location with actual documents but as already said its not google and is a solid option if you are degoogled.

Your options in aftermarket OS fall in to 3 categories imao

  1. those that support relocking the bootloader (grapheme,calyx,divest, other smaller projects maybe)
  2. vanilla roms with signature spoofing permission so that you can have microg on them. Some even come with microg preinstalled (/e/,lode,Los4mg) And some are gmscomat compatible (voltage,awaken,spark). There are plenty but they don’t care about signed images and relocking.
  3. some unofficial build from any of the above from a maintainer that cares to sign his own images so that you can relock your BL as your device supports it.
ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

Together with the other suggestions jtx board is also a new addition Developed from the davx5 team , tasks,calendars,journals and NOTES.

The good: Easy sync of notes with any caldav provider . No extra servers and apps for tasks,cakendars,journals. Mtls support ( davx5 supports it ) for extra security if you selfhost

The bad: No desktop client

You can access the channel from a web browser adding /s/ to the url t.me/s/favandroidapps

Tap on #tags on the pinned message to view only message with the selected tag

ps:Updated the post link with the web version of the channel

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

That would require a lot more work. The idea behind the channel is to have an instant share and categorisation of an app I and other found and want to share and then use the related channel group to comment about it

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

Matrix does not have search filter. Actually does not have any search at all in groups

Also there is no way categorise messages by any mean

In telegram I just add a # in the post Then Users tap on the # and all related messages appear

Easy

And fast

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

Matrix is only good for continous flow chatting

There is no way to categorise and search messages

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

If anyone can suggest a telegram alternative that can be publicly accessed without an account,can use tags and create a media and text preview from the providing link I’ll be more than happy to use that instead

I used telegram after thought

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

Tags are essential. As all other features I mentioned. There are tons of app lists out there. Git repos,websites,subredits even app stores, none of this option are ideal for a quick post that will provide a brief preview , catecorisation , public accessibility and user comments at the same time.

Lemmy would be great though. It has link previews. Can be webviewed without an account. Has user interaction. There is also progress on the tag system. github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/317#issuecomment…If it ever goes upstream and implemented it will be perfect

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

Telegram is not google. The clients are open source. And there are degoogled clients on fdroid. And eitherway you can access the channel from any browser without the need of an account

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

I dont even know what am i suppost to see here. Global search?

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

Channels and groups are not encrypted in tg. Like this community we now chatting is not encrypted. I dont see anything wrong in that. For the tg encryption security audit , i think its beyond the purpuse of the channel i made so idc.

This probably will never hapen Being a flutter app needs flutter plugins to call the aprpriate android api’s This is problematic when it comes to silent instalations

github.com/ImranR98/Obtainium/issues/25

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

To re-run the initial setup

Delete nextcloud/data folder

Delete nextcloud/config/config.php file

Add nextcloud/config/CAN_INSTALL file

And docker-compose up

Looks like finaly there is a decent alternative to Google Photos (stingle.org)

When I was looking to replace my google tools, I couldn’t find an easy to to alternative Google Photos. Things that were suggested like immich or Synology or ente required some level of technical know how or dedicated hardware. I ended up buying a Synology drive but I have issues with loading images/videos (it’s extremely...

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

Shingle and ente are great alternative providers

If you want to selfhost

Librephotos serverside with uhuruphotos on android

Or

Photoprism serverside with photoprism android client

Or both

Runs smooth on a raspberry pi

Both actually better than google photos in some ways

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

Google bans new acounts that never used in official playstore before

Use a spare gmail acount that you have also used with playstore

Anonymus logins also get rate limits or get banned

As for alternative

App lounge from /e/ OS uses auroraOSS Gstore api to download from playstore so it’s basically like using aurora

Other than that the are Python scripts you could use on termux but those also need a proper gmail account

Same apply to linux/windows programs available

I always used my “normal” google account in Aurora also been using this account with microg since ages Never had an issue I don’t care if the account gets banned though.

Maybe appkmirror is the only other “sane” option.

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

Thats a great idea but it will require some short of an fdroid account

I mean your donation history have to be stored somewhere in case the apps data on phone gets wiped e.g. app uninstalled

You can view your donations in github though

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

I can imagine some implementation without login e.g. read your donations from your github,kofi etc acounts if thats even posible

btw does feature requests make sense here? Isn’t a GitLab issue more suitable?

Using stock Android w/o Google account/ Play Store worth it?

I hope this is not considered a low-effort post, but I wanted to ask if using stock Android without signing in to your Google account/ using Play Store is worth it. It should be more private, right? I’m planning on buying the cheapest Samsung phone there is (probably the A14). I currently have a stock Android Oneplus phone. I...

ippokratis,
@ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

You’ll still have gms and google apps installed also the proprietary apps installed Most are system apps but some can be uninstalled

Have in mind in stock OS’s you’ll need an account to recover from a factory reset

    Aurora store with a google account for playsrtore apps. Fdroid is also installed and I do regullar visits on their website and also on izzyondroid site for new apps. I’ve tried syncthing but sync got corrupted and lost files while trying to figure out what went wrong (maybe a missconfiguration from my side I’m not sure).I never used it again

    ippokratis,
    @ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

    Their release scheme is questianable yes as you said alpha and beta released in play store only then comes the fdroid release As long as there is an fdroid release I cant blame them really but you got a fait point

    Feature wise they developed their own open autofill and swipe libs plus I love the layouts. Actually builded my own layout but I like the over logic with bottom / top rows, gesture navigations etc

    I'm done with NextCloud

    Just had NextCloud denying my credentials (not for the first time). I know they weren’t wrong because I’m using a password manager. Logs didn’t say much. Was about to reinstall (again, not the first time nextcloud went bonkers on me) before I tried a docker compose down && docker compose up. Lo and behold after a restart...

    ippokratis,
    @ippokratis@lemmy.ml avatar

    Nextcloud is an overkill. Its just too much. I’d say better split down the needed services. Baikal/radicale etc for contacts/calendar. Photoprism/librephotos etc for photos. A webdav server for storage. And so on.
