Difference 2 is it's not really powermodding. At least not from the way I personally understand powermodding. Imo powermodding is when a mod decides to get rid of content they personally just don't like.

In this case they got rid of a big risk to the instance itself, because, if someone decided to upload pirated content on here it would get federated to all instances that haven't blocked the one initially distributing such content. Like another user said on this topic, this could be compared to torrenting, only without the direct P2P distribution. The risk of course falls on the people hosting the instances.

Since they host these instances pretty much for free aside of donations, that are not a requirement, and the fact that, like nanometer said, you can just choose not to be part of the instance (and register to another instance), I wouldn't put blame on the admins of lemmy.world in this case.

Yes this one is honestly a bit apples to oranges-ish, I can kinda understand though because Germany is about the size of a single US state.

Though it's very hard to fuck up western Europe if you ever looked at a world map. Western Europe only has a handful of countries.

Compared to a country of 50 or so states where only 3 have a memorable shape (California, Texas, Florida), one has a memorable location (Alaska) and NYC being a household name.

Hawaii is way further away from the US than Alaska I forgot it belonged to the US because of that, I am sorry if that offended anyone.

I would consider Michigan a memorable shape if it wasn't cut in half. As someone that's not from the US, without specifically going out of my way to learn about Michigans shape I would have expected the shape that actually represents Michigan to be two different states.

And yes, technically NYC itself isn't a state but honestly it's close enough to the actual name, that if I told natives I'm going to the state of NYC they'd know I'm talking about New York and am just being ignorant, and knowing where NYC is, most people could point out the state of New York on a map.

And yes, I am an imposter because I am from Germany and not the US.

I agree, I have trouble labeling most south eastern european countries correctly as a European myself. Though I was specifically talking about western Europe in this case which isn't as fragmented.

It would literally not hurt them to open source anything <= 3DS now after the eshop closure. The act of doing that and everything that would come of it (e.g. rom hacks) would actually be a pretty good PR move imo and maybe they'd even find new developers, acquainted with their code, that could be hired by them so they have developers that actually know how to develop good and optimized games.

One can sadly only dream.

Yes, MM DD YY only makes sense when you're speaking.

In written language it should always follow the order of smallest to largest, meaning day, month, and then year. Imo.

Though I personally try to use YYYY-MM-DD as much as possible in day to day life, if not applicable I use DD MM YYYY. YYYY-MM-DD of course doesn't follow the order of smallest to largest, instead following the opposite order, though at least it has an order.

So if you made an appointment for the 2nd of September you'd tell 'em "yeah let's meet on the 2nd" or "yeah let's meet on the 245th" you're gonna need the month somewhere.

Of course if it's the same month it wouldn't make a difference if you said "let's meet on the 10th" or "let's meet on the 10th of August" but if you're making appointments for different months which in everyday life or in a work environment is not unusual you can't just say "yeah the 2nd" and expect them to know which month. "Yeah you can expect delivery by the 4th".

Tl;Dr:
I didn't even say "it's the only way to say it when speaking" I said "only makes sense when you're speaking." because in written form MM DD YY is just shit for everyone except Americans, to the point where context sometimes is the only saving grace. Vice versa applies.

I didn't have this issue at all yet, very rarely I do get logged out without me doing anything but that happens only while I am not using kbin at all so I just have to log back in and nothing is lost.

Errors while upvoting posts I do sometimes get and I'm thinking that the problem is that I'm upvoting something at exactly the same time someone else is. It leads me to an error page, I click the back button to get back to the post, reload the page and upvote again and it works.

But I never got sent to a login page as an error.

Maybe. I just never really looked at the tabs name and just hit back 🤷. I was never logged out though so either we had different errors or it really was just an assumption on your side.

I'd need to re-encounter my error to check, but now that I want to re-encounter it, it won't ever happen again.

Edit: Actually ☝️🤓, I literally JUST re-encountered it, the page did indeed say "Log in" but I was still logged in and my profile picture etc still showed up in the upper right as usual.

Lemmy (Kbin in my case) is great but this specific sub is about Reddit. And I felt that that was a fitting post to create here.

I would understand your position a little more if this was asklemmy or another sub that at most only indirectly would have anything to do with Reddit. I didn't post the link there because I know that those subs would not be fitting.

This isn't like obsessing over an ex-girlfriend. It would be, if it were always the same person posting every Reddit news. This is the first time I made a post about Reddit over here and only because I think it's good to know for the people that weren't there.

I liked the action they took at the end, as well as the persistent advertisement of Lemmy in the literal middle of r/place.

Rage over the Reddit reposts, not over the Reddit news. Or at least keep the rage in the subs that are not mainly about Reddit.

There were most certainly bots but I'm pretty sure (and I'm speaking from experience since I was there) that there were more than enough real people helping.

Especially the Germans were probably a driving force as usual and then there were the other communities that united on their Discord servers as well, I was part of one that had ~3k members I think (Fuck Spez Coalition 🫡).
