I still use Reddit a bit (on desktop only), mostly to check on some niche communities that aren't really on the Fediverse yet, but Kbin has been very nice also. It's nice and chill, and overall a lot less fascist/bigot friendly, which is refreshing.
So Nintendo just announced their “community tournament guidelines” which basically imposes restrictive rules against anyone running a tournament with their games. Is this even legal?
I fully support the arrest, those are serious threats and they should be met with serious consequences.
It's still weird to me that it was done in a classroom though. I understand the intent of "sending a strong message" but idk if I like it all that much. They could've arrested him at his home and forgo this whole performative stunt.
When I was in high school someone in my class did some highly fucked up shit and got in very serious legal trouble for it (and we never saw him at the school again). After he was expelled/arrested, we just had a very long talk in class about what he did and why it was so serious and wrong, and it was effective, it's one of few things I remember from high school now actually lol. We didn't need to have the police show up to scare us into not doing it, at least I didn't, idk how effective it was on everyone else.

It sounds to me like while OP can absolutely enjoy longer, more complex works, they can prove daunting and time consuming, so they're looking for shorter and more straightforward stories.
Maybe I'm casting my own experiences onto this, but I know that's a feeling I get too, especially with some video games. Some of my favorites are 200+ hours of meticulous exploration and grinding, but I rarely find myself with the energy to engage with journeys of this magnitude, so I usually gravitate more towards shorter stuff.

You know, I was actually wondering about that recently. I watched The Thing in 4K and I sort of regreted it; I loved the movie, but I can only imagine how much better of an experience it would've been to watch it on VHS back in the day.

That does (usually) work yeah, but for example if I'm simply scrolling down I can't do that, since refreshing will bring me all the way back up and change what posts are even displayed.

It's harder to notice the difference at first. When I first got my 144Hz monitor I had trouble distinguishing between the two, but now I can immediately tell (and it's made going back to gaming at 60fps really difficult lol).
If you keep using 120Hz mode, then after a while you'll definitely feel the difference between the two.
That said unless you game on your phone a lot, I don't know how useful it is to have it set to 120, especially if it drains more battery.
