db2,

tl;dr boot Windows. 🙄

db2,

Bear in mind that back then you had an underdeveloped brain. Literally.

db2,

Trans bad. Or something like that.

db2,

Why would you make a one line command in to a function 🤣

db2,

Adding three extra lines to call a single command makes it clean? Remind me not to hire you.

db2,

It’s only called once.

db2,

You tell me.

db2,

That’s Seal, a Bri’ish musician/singer.

db2,

That image is more telling than you intended it to be.

db2,

That’s what I thought you meant, the image implies they’re the same thing wearing different masks. The elephant is the weapon, the donkey is the one using it. In other words, a one party system pretending to be two.

Is it possible to flash a new OS onto an old iPad 2?

I bought an old iPad2 for the purpose of viewing a Home Assistant dashboard via a web browser. My thinking was that the ability to browse the web was the sole requirement for a tablet for this purpose, but I was wrong: Home Assistant’s web pages apparently require a newer version of javascript than iOS 9.3.5 can handle, but...

db2,

Hope you didn’t pay much.

db2,

I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes

db2,

My ad blocker turned off at some point and I loaded that link without it… holy shit was that obnoxious. The ads moved things around, blocked the article, autoplayed videos… and that’s what we’re supposed to be appreciative of and turn off our ad blockers for? 🤢

[Solved] BSOD on Windows VM after update

Hello everyone! I hope to be posting in the correct place, if not please tell me and I’ll delete this. I have a W11 VM on my EndeavourOS KDE laptop that I use because of some software I need for university that does not run under wine (LabVIEW and Keil uVision). The VM is running on virt-manager (QEMU KVM) using the virtio...

Bob the Builder meme

But really, try booting a portable version of Windows like it’s a CD or USB in the VM.

db2,

Detrumped Home Alone 2. His bit in it is entirely pointless.

db2,

This is probably the least dickish way to go about it.

db2,

It was removed because of language used in the description which has been fixed. It was not removed because of what it did or what it was for.

There are plenty of legit things to get mad about. This wasn’t one of them.

db2,

I did, probably was removed/blocked before you got in here.

It was a hopefully fake image of Nicocado. You don’t want more detail than that, trust me.

db2,

“millions of customers have more than 20 devices connected to Alexa.”

Does anyone know any of them? I sure don’t.

db2,

I wonder if it would still be an issue had Bluetooth won the wireless network stack war.

db2,

It came down to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to be the wireless network standard. For a hot minute it wasn’t clear who would come out the winner.

I can’t find shit about it though. It was around 2000ish.

db2,

It could be a Mandela effect thing. 🤷

db2,

For himself. He doesn’t give a shit beyond that.

db2,

Then why would he have objected to being in the captioned image? Think.

db2,

Facebook will take it as fact.

db2,

How will it detect taking a picture with another phone? If they’re both steady, aligned reasonably well, and the resolution is good enough it’s the same thing. And who doesn’t have an extra phone laying around?

db2,

I was trying for the joke of someone taking a picture of a screenshot or a cell video of a security camera feed… guess it didn’t land. 🤷

db2,

The app in the first link is pretty old, just so anyone knows. If there have been vulnerabilities in the last 6 years this may not have addressed them.

db2,

What are you trying two say

db2,

When I had no (useful) Internet where I was living a few years ago I would save a list of packages to download from Synaptic to a drive and then when I was somewhere I could I would download them, then when I got home I could plug in the drive and update/install them.

Is there any way I can make an old XMMS plugin work in any modern player?

Long story short, I learned there is an XMMS release of a plugin I use in Winamp for music playback (mp3PRO). Sadly, I recoded most of my music to mp3PRO back in the day, and now I’m stuck using Winamp, even on Linux. I like the player, wouldn’t change it, but I wanted to switch to something native, like Audacious or Qmms....

db2,

More time than trying to shoehorn a defunct package for an abandoned codec in to a random player which even if it works would only be a temporary kludge not a fix?

db2,

Not to mention fakes. I bought and Android 12 tablet on Amazon as new not long ago, the version string said 12, but the actual API level was 24 (Android 7) and the UI wasn’t android 12.

If you don’t think that’s a big deal on a cheap tablet then you’re not considering what else could have been done to it that you can’t see. They’re already lying after all.

db2,

The second panel would be “No, I enabled error reporting. Those errors belong to just you.”

db2,

You know there’s a whole hobby of keeping older hardware running, right?

db2,

so any remaining users have a few more years to get a new graphics card.

Anyone running a Voodoo is doing so because they want to. Dropping support is bullshit.

db2,

You know security vulnerabilities are a thing, right?

db2,

Then 0-day can become known vulnerability. Yay?

db2,

But they’ll stop working due to artificial causes.

db2,

Go add a 2.4 era driver to a modern kernel and see how that goes.

db2,

There’s a big difference between dropping a driver and dropping the ability to have the driver. I’ve compiled plenty of drivers.

db2,

To answer the question as given:

lyonsden.net/getting-an-amiga-a1200-online-part-1…

hackaday.com/…/apple-ii-web-server-written-in-bas…

Because. The answer is because.

And if you have a machine that is more capable than those by default then the OS software artificially disabling its use is pretty fucked up.

db2,

Yeah you’re not actually interested in listening to what’s being said. Bye.

db2,

Those aren’t books though.

db2,

I’d still call them bookshelves, but in this instance I’d also specify “binders on bookshelves”.
