ashley,

Really? Google reviews is manipulated horribly. The underlying project, the maps, Apple isn’t far behind and in some cases I’ve noticed it’s actually much better.

ashley,

It might be time to start thinking about it, however it will depend on the consensus among the legal system on weather you need to provide attribution through AI.

ashley,

Does the link give a 404 for anyone else?

Starlink has become the 'blood' of Ukraine's communication infrastructure, but officials are reportedly growing concerned about relying on Elon Musk's tech (www.businessinsider.com)

Ukraine’s digital minister has reported concerns about the country’s overreliance on Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet system amid the war with Russia, The New York Times reports.

ashley,

That not really possible though. In the same way your isp can’t see what YouTube video you’re watching, encryption stops musk from seeing what the military sends to each other. Unless of course the Ukrainian military doesn’t to the whole security thing, which is doubtful.

ashley,

DNS can’t leak anything that https dpi can’t do.

ashley,

Not really, you can strip the cryptography from a photo. What would be more concerning would be the (likely) corporation controlling the certificates.

ashley,

Alpine is pretty awesome. The reason I use Debian over it is mostly just because I’m more familiar with it. Though I don’t run alpine on a couple servers. The docs are also awesome.

ashley,

They’re looking for a persistent install on a flash drive. To my knowledge it’s not easy to make ventoy do that.

Has anyone used or contributed to OpenStreetMap?

I’ve tried using it over the years but I never liked it because there was no information. So last night I looked at my local city and there is almost no information at all. I spent a few hours last night adding buildings and restaurants and removing incorrect items. It was actually kind of fun and therapeutic and I plan to do...

ashley,

I’ve tried putting osm maps on my Garmin with limited success, how can I go about doing that?

ashley,

Thanks a lot!

ashley,

I use it on a couple devices. It’s more stable than arch and certainly easier to use. It can sometimes be a bit finicky with third party repos. However Debian testing isn’t guaranteed to be stable, so things may break on your system. That being said I really haven’t had many problems.

There are a couple weeks/months before a new version is released where testing stops getting feature updates, as the packages are frozen.

ashley,

It should automatically switch to the next version, as the “testing” keyword gets passed down between versions. I’m not sure though

ashley,

So, is he getting fined then blaming his breaking of the law on weak enforcement?

ashley,

Kinda surprised it didn’t rip with their claws

ashley,

I think you mixed up opt out and opt in in the title

ashley,

Not sure of any recording software, but you can edit titles on Lemmy

ashley,

It’s like email but Reddit style

ashley,

Email is federated as well. You sign up to a server (ex. Gmail.com), then you use and interact only with gmail.com, but you can then tell gmail to send an email to another server such as outlook, and it’s the same for their users.

Difference being the content is public here, whereas email isn’t, and Lemmy also uses ActivityPub which is a standard to forward messages between servers.
