With a torrent you’re downloading from many unknown peers, one of which could be a rights holder lawyer who will log your IP and send a threatening letter to your internet service provider. With Soulseek you are downloading from only one peer.
With a torrent you are downloading and uploading chunks at the same time. With Soulseek you have options about what you share for upload. If you were to get in trouble legally on Soulseek, it would probably be for what’s in your shared library, not for what you downloaded.
However, it’s not super polite to download from others without sharing. Some users block uploading to peers who aren’t sharing anything. My advice would be to go to your local library and find a few rare CDs of local music. Rip them to MP3 at a good bitrate and share them. Or maybe classical music? I’m not a lawyer, but just think of what music you can share where the artist or record label isn’t going to sue you. Independent and smaller record labels are probably not going to sue you.
Highest elevation so far Mt Whitney (14,505’, 4,421 m). Pretty uneventful climb since it was the end of over two weeks on the John Muir Trail. The previous 5 days was almost entirely avoid 10,000 ft. We slept on the shoulder of the mountain and sauntered up in the morning in about an hour.
Highest climb from the bottom to top was maybe Mt Williamson (14,379’, 4383 m). Trailhead is about 6300 ft, so at least 8,000 ft of climbing (2440 m). It was very difficult, climbed over 2 days. Not much time to adapt to the altitude. The hardest part was the realization that the top is exactly half way. I just wanted to paraglide down or get a helicopter ride. Some very difficult rocky terrain.
Honorable mention is Mauna Kea (4207 m). I had a magical elixir of coffee and Maca (REBBL Chocolate flavor), and powered to the top without altitude sickness. I haven’t tried it since, but I will try Maca again next time I’m going up in elevation above 10k ft.
Amazing. I wonder how well it could work in reverse: generating an accurate caption for any image, including graphs and charts. Could be useful for visually impaired and accessibility.
I got an LG OLED (GX), with plans to get an AppleTV. However WebOS worked well enough, and it is even better when rooted. I can watch YouTube ad-free and Emby. I don’t use too much else.
Yeah, both for being feared, delicious, and a good source for rendered fat. They were slaughtered in great numbers by missionaries. They were killed for fun in spectacle Bull vs. Bear fights. They were all killed.
