My list of disabilities is too long to fit in any field.

#DeafBlind, and feeling fine, most of the time.

#EDS, #MCAS, #CFS, #Fibro, and more damage my joints, and cause pain spikes that drain my brain and memory.

Now, using a #PowerChair helps preserve my joints so I can function a little more.

It's so frustrating that I can just about function "normally" for a year max and then everything goes to shit, regardless of what I do, what's been happening, etc.

Is this a common Autistic issue?

A year is excellent.

When I wasn’t as disabled as now, I could almost manage a month or two, then spend two weeks in bed recovering.

How many fellow Autistics have never lied on a job application, never lied on a CV, never lied on tax forms? 🙋‍♂️

Is doing that expected? Is it required? Is not doing that handicapping us? Do you too feel almost unable to do that?

I never could lie on them.

Though, I think lies are expected.

When asked about my traits one time, I answered I was a recovering workaholic. Before that word was well known.

Yeah, I rarely got a job based on interviews. I couldn't lie my way through them.

A minor problem.

I wish to celebrate my half a century by sharing free books for people who want (or need) them.

Amazon doesn't like free books, except on their own terms.

They will soon be out of Kindle Unlimited.

I will be happy to send people copies if you cannot afford them. Please message me here, or on my website.

I do have a few others that are available, though out of date.

I've seen an increasing number of posts on the fediverse about mansplaining, reply-guys and such (e.g. the different types of reply guy). This usually involves a very broad definition of the reply-guy concept, including "anyone who engages on a public post who isn't inflating my massive ego".

To my friends: this is a trap! If you offer ANY comment, engagement, or question except "this is so true/u r awesome" you will get blocked and/or patronised (even if you aren't explicitly criticising them). It's best to avoid the topic completely, even if there are some massive generalisations or over-simplifications, or if you feel its an interesting topic and compelled to discuss further, don't bother!

A lot of it feels like it is policing autistic people, with the double whammy that quite a few ASD people won't notice that it's a trap.

I frequently see posts using letter scrambles, and wonder what those scrambles mean to that person. I know better than to ask.

A few days ago, I tried to decipher a post. All the words were in English. I recognized the words. The order of the words did not make sense. Not sure what -ese it was. Wasn’t legalese, medicalese, or any other I semi- recognize, even if I can’t comprehend it.

Wasn’t British, Canadian, Australian.

I had to ignore as not communicating.

post? Hi, I'm Dan.
I don't generally do social media. And yet here I am. Trying out this Fedi thing,
excited to have a space where I can just be myself.

I'm recently self diagnosed , , , & officially (39yo, better late than never!)
It's been so enlightening to finally start learning and embracing who I really am.

Meeting other autistic people has been amazing and is helping me feel less alone.

So um hi 🙂

I wonder if this is a sensitivity thing or if it's just me having bad skin:

When I get hot and start to sweat or take a shower that is a bit too warm, my skin gets super itchy. It's like a rash covers my hole body some times, or a bunch of little needles everywhere, though no visual reaction occurs. Annoying at best and distressing at worst!

Just realized that this may be one of the reasons I avoid exerting myself physically!

That can be a MCAS reaction.
