This is just more misinformation, actually. Thanksgiving festivals were common in Europe before the colonization of America. See Lammas and Horkey. The settlers just continued their traditions in America. The native Americans had similar traditions, but the idea wasn’t anything new to Europeans. Canada’s Thanksgiving has moved around a lot over the years, but its current day was chosen to separate it from Remembrance Day. Its timing has nothing to do with Native holidays.

I don’t who “they” are to really respond to the rest of your comment. You’re kind of painting the Indians with an extremely broad brush. Almost nothing will be true about all the cultures of an entire continent. The Pilgrims primarily interacted with the Wampanoags, but they didn’t have a written language and there’s certainly no evidence their tribe existed for 25,000 years.

There’s a common belief among the Iroquois that it should be considered how actions will affect the seventh generation, but the idea that that’s in their constitution is a common myth. The Iroquois Confederacy itself was only formed about 1450. If you read the Great Law of Peace, it bears no resemblance to the US Constitution. Calling it plagiarism is ridiculous. There are not even any significant references to the Iroquois by Congress in the 1780s. This is another modern myth which originated in the last hundred years. The Iroquois constitution wasn’t even written for a democracy.

In all likelihood they would be neither. With modern technology, we don’t need a large percent of the population farming. I realize communists typically eliminate the intellectuals and kulaks—those who would actually have useful knowledge—first, but the smart things would be to have the current farmers keep farming. You’d likely be assigned to a factory to manufacture widgets for the rest of your days.

Most of the drafters owned no slaves. Regardless of the source of the document, generally discussion of government focus around the law. I guess if we’re ignoring the law, sure a populist totalitarian government can do whatever you want. There’s not much to discuss then.

Personally, I’m a fan of the rule of law. I guess even if there wasn’t a specific law, I would still want to respect unalienable human rights anyway though.

McDonald’s has ~69,000,000 customers per day.

There are ~40,000 McDonald’s locations.

Assuming a McDonald’s averages about 13 employees working at any time and it’s open for 18 hours a day…

They would have to raise meal prices about $2 on average to double wages, ignoring any drop in sales that might cause. (Generally, if a restaurant thought it could make more money by just raising prices, it would have done so a long time ago.)

Ullallulloo,
@Ullallulloo@civilloquy.com avatar

95% of McDonald’s are franchised. Virtually all of the people you will ever see at a McDonald’s really work for “John Doe’s Eastern McDonald’s Franchises #2 LLC” and are therefore not counted.

More than 1.7 million people work at McDonald’s.

Ullallulloo,
@Ullallulloo@civilloquy.com avatar

I did: ($15 × 13 × 18) ÷ (69000000 ÷ 40000) = $2.03

There is a real concern that getting too many boosters too frequently may be able to cause immune system “fatigue”, essentially causing it to do the opposite and train your immune system to ignore COVID-19 because it starts to think it’s just always supposed to be there. A vaccine once a year shouldn’t be able to cause it, but we’re getting into new waters with fighting COVID.

Regardless of whose fault it is, it’s unacceptable that half the people with a discrete GPU have nigh incompatible hardware. It’s more akin to using snow tires breaking your car than a jet engine.

I can say she was convicted of two counts of both R.C. 2903.02(A) & (B)—basically “normal” murder and felony murder. Clearly they thought she did it on purpose and because she was committing another felony. I can’t say why those don’t merge together under Ohio law or if they are supposed to. Ohio is a fairly statutory state, so maybe they overwrite that common law rule?

He didn’t defend Musk at all. He was just commenting on the style of the conversation. But trying to come up with a new school-ground insult for someone every thread is admittedly immature and makes it really hard to follow the conversation if you’re not terminally online. It’s like everyone is trying to copy Donald Trump now.

He said Twitter has more freedom of speech and credibility than other platforms. The Taliban likes Twitter’s lax moderation policies which allow them to spread their message. 8oz of skinless breast has 250 calories, 0 carbs, and >50g of protein. That's really nutritious and healthy in my book.

That's very similar to something like lentils, and a lot better than something like rice which other people are saying but is essentially empty calories with barely any nutritional value.
