TheRealGChu,

GenXer. I’ve gotten more progressive. I used to consider myself a moderate dem back in the 90s. On the other hand, the 90s moderate dem is now considered a commie woke libtard, so shrug? Shocking that I want justice for all, fair wages, end systemic racism, end homophobia, etc. So librul! I’m destroying Western society! Oh wait, I’m a POC immigrant woman, course I’m destroying America!

TheRealGChu,

Handspinning. I do a lot of fiber crafts.

TheRealGChu,

Late reply, sorry. I’ve got a couple Snyder Spindles, I think. Bought them off Etsy.

What's your favorite way to play the game?

How do you choose to play the game? Do you enjoy questing, or prefer seeing the world and messing around? Do you consider yourself a roleplayer, or are you more “serious” about the game? How vanilla do you like your game? Fresh as a new download, a little bit of QoL, or total overhaul? Cheese or no cheese?

TheRealGChu,

I buy it 4 times cos I’m Todd Howard’s bitch. Though, I haven’t preordered Starfield yet, so no so far gone.

TheRealGChu,

I love that knit. I made one last year, my first time making cables. was a really good introduction, too, since it’s small and easy to finish. I’m thinking of making a new one this year, but with a heavier wool yarn.

TheRealGChu,

I think it should be on a case-by-case basis. I’m in the legal field, and there’s definitely days I don’t need to be in the office as almost all of our work is online now. State and federal mandatory efiling, e-discovery is online, and even our document management system is headed to the cloud, so no need for remoting in, just log into Microsoft 365 from any browser. Don’t even need to own any Microsoft apps natively anymore.

On the other hand, there are days that I do need to be in the office: depositions and prepping witnesses, trial preparedness, and sometimes, you just need to touch base with everyone to see how things are going. I work in securities litigation, and those are frequently very complex, document and fact intensive cases.

We have a entire practices that are 100% remote now. The partners are either elderly, or they live far away from the office and were hybrid remote before the pandemic. The paralegal that works with those attorneys is also 100% remote.

Lastly, I am much more productive at home than in the office. I do not have ADHD, and do not have a problem with attention, and do not get distracted easily. On the other hand, I’m an introvert, and really loathe the interpersonal nonsense and constant interruptions of ppl barging into my office, more often enough that just to chat. Last month, I had to do a major document review of going through 10s of thousands of emails, and to just plow through that at home, comfy in my bed, where my bathroom is just a few steps away, made me so much more productive than being stuck in the office.

TheRealGChu,

I can’t get into discord. As an old EFnet user, it’s just clunky to me? I’m not sure, but it’s not sticking for me

In 2005, Sony BMG installed DRM software on users’ computers without clearly notifying the user or requiring confirmation. Among other things, the software included a rootkit, which created a security vulnerability. When the nature of the software was made public much later, Sony BMG initially minimized the significance of the...

TheRealGChu,

Pepperidge farm remembers!

I never bought CDs after about 1999, so this never affected me. However, if I’m remembering correctly, you could get past that nonsense by running a black sharpie marker along the outside of the CD, effectively making that portion unreadable. Unless I’m thinking of something else. Pls correct if this was about another nonsense DRM.

YSK Hubert Humphrey's name -- in 1948 (!), he gave a speech at the DNC in favor of civil rights. (www.americanrhetoric.com)

I read his name in “Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72,” but I never really understood who he was. This was back when the Democrats were the racist party and the Republicans were the party of Lincoln, decades before LBJ and Nixon tacitly agreed to exchange those positions. Here’s what he said in 1948:...

TheRealGChu,

I’m a Minnesotan. We know HHH (though, it prolly helped that a stadium was also named after him =P).

HHH/Mondale/Wellstone. Wellstone died too young.

TheRealGChu,

Re weaving in ends: I just learned a new technique colloquially called Weavin Steven, where you twist and carry the yarn behind the stitches so it gets twisted and woven into the stitches automatically. It’s a bit fiddly, but I loathe weaving in ends, so this looks a pretty good solution. This is obviously only a solution when you have a right/wrong side piece.

TheRealGChu,

I was under the impression that the technique is to twist the tail into the stitch, and then weaves it into the stitches. I didn’t see anything that says it’s only for animal fiber. I’m using it on a tencel yarn right now. Seems pretty secure.

TheRealGChu,

Those in the Skyrim community knows that Gamerant just skims reddit posts and puts up stupid shit like, “you won’t believe what this Skyrim player discovered today!” sort of nonsense.

Anyway, I just write down I, II, III, etc. and mark down with tics every time I cast a spell and at what level. I mean, do you need to get more complicated? This seems like extra work.

TheRealGChu,

Oh lordy, there’s a dice community. Perhaps making dice would be cheaper than buying them? HHAHAH! That’s what I say about knitting =P

TheRealGChu,

Haha, exactly like knitting! A billion years ago, I saw this really cool shrug/scarf/shawl type thing. It was on clearance for $5. Tell my husband, I can totally make that! 5 years later, it’s done at a cost of about $15 =P

TheRealGChu,

I resent that. I eat more than 3 species of animals.

TheRealGChu,

Wild game: throw in rabbit, deer (or elk), buffalo, etc. Alligator is also quite tasty. Sheep, goat (man, nothing beats curry goat, let me tell you).

TheRealGChu,

As an autistic person, habits are integral to my existence. I hate it when my schedule gets crazy, unless I very specifically plan for it. However, my husband who has ADHD, the above seems true. As a simple example: I always leave my stuff like keys, lunchbox, and headphones in the exact same spot when I get home from work. On the other hand, I spent 10 minutes this morning trying to find where my husband put the potato chips that I was planning on taking for lunch. Instead of being in the kitchen, they were in the living room(??!!) cos he moved them there to “get them out of the way.”

I’m very structured in the way I work; he needs to be constantly redirected to stay on task. I have boundless attention to fiddly, very specific high-attention things (I do a lot of fiber crafts such as knitting and crocheting lace) for HOURS, to quote Neal Stephenson, “I have attention surplus disorder.” He can’t work on anything longer than 15 minutes.

It used to drive me crazy, but now I’ve realized that’s just how his brain works, and we just work around it. On the other hand, he keeps makes me take breaks and pace myself (which I don’t usually do), and I help him be more efficient. It’s a pretty good system.

TheRealGChu,

I actually do have a habit of brushing my teeth. It’s part of my morning routine, which I do in the exact same order, every day. But, I’m autistic (I was diagnosed as a teen in the 80s). I’m one of those persons that has a very exact routine, and get really upset when my routine gets interrupted.

But, I do agree with you that some of those symptoms seem more indicative of depression than ADHD.

TheRealGChu,

This is amazing. I sent the link to a buddy of mine who has been using chatGPT to help with simple coding things (which he’s not supposed to, so shhh). It has the same problem as AI “art”. At first it looks OK, then the more you look at it, the freakier it gets. Then it just becomes unhinged.
