Japan has condemned Russia’s holding of illegal local and regional “elections” in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Ukrinform saw.

Russia’s “annexation” of parts of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as Crimea, is a clear violation of international law that infringes on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and is also inconsistent with the relevant UN General Assembly resolutions.

“Japan strongly condemns it as such an act is absolutely unacceptable. It is also totally unacceptable for Russia to conduct such “elections” in these regions on the basis of such an illegal ‘annexation.’”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is an outrageous act that shakes the very foundation of the international order, and Japan cannot condone any attempts to unilaterally change the status quo by force.

“Japan will continue to strongly urge Russia once again to stop the aggression and withdraw its forces to Russian territory immediately. Japan will coordinate with the international community including the G7 and implement severe sanctions against Russia and provide strong support for Ukraine to realize a just and lasting peace in Ukraine as soon as possible,” the statement said.

As reported earlier, the Russian Federation has announced that on September 8-10, 2023, the so-called elections to local occupation administrations will be held in the temporarily occupied parts of the territories of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions of Ukraine, as well as the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that these sham elections will not yield any legal consequences and will not lead to a change in the status of the Ukrainian territories captured by the Russian army.

I am glad I don’t have the addiction to buying cheap knockoff crap disease then.

What are some commonly known facts that are too bizarre for you to believe to be true?

For me it is the fact that our blood contains iron. I earlier used to believe the word stood for some ‘organic element’ since I couldn’t accept we had metal flowing through our supposed carbon-based bodies, till I realized that is where the taste and smell of blood comes from.

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/LInux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Google Chrome pushes browser history-based ad targeting • The Register (www.theregister.com)

Topics essentially works like this: rather than using cookies to track people around the web and figure out their interests from the sites they visit and the apps they use, websites can ask Chrome directly, via its Topics JavaScript API, what sort of things the user is interested in, and then display ads based on that. Chrome...

Barred from freezing their eggs at home, single Chinese women are traveling elsewhere (www.nbcnews.com)

Egg freezing has become a growing topic of discussion in China, where officials alarmed by the country’s first population decline in six decades are trying to boost the birth rate even as young people are increasingly putting off marriage and childbearing or avoiding it altogether....
