Ramsey Lewis recorded & released an LP of White Album covers less than a month after the release of the Beatles' White Album and reached #4 in the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. And he didn't even like .

It's like the whole of the 60s encapsulated in just one album. , kitsch strings, soul-funk, teenybop, and he even introduced early electronics (Ramsey beat The Beatles to the Moog by a year). There's a dreamy montage quality about it as if mixed by a DJ. I love it

med crisis summary:

  1. State drug admins aren't keeping up with demand.
  2. Many suspect this is intentional in an effort to deter misusers.
  3. Genuine ADHDers can't get the meds they need.
  4. "Without medication people with ADHD are twice as likely to die prematurely"
  5. The government: "LOL"

(I'm still waiting for drugs I was prescribed 2 months ago)

@SHODAN
Sympathies. It really is a nightmare in the UK. Apparently the adult waiting list is now up to 10.5 years.

My pharmacy is having problems acquiring Dexamphetamine and are offering me (the more expensive) Attentin instead.
Anyone had experience with the latter?

Having one of those days when I wonder how different my life might have been had my & been diagnosed much (much) earlier...
It sometimes feels a bit like heaving myself breathless over a marathon finishing line long after others have completed it, only to find that I was shlepping an anvil behind me that could have so easily been offloaded, if only I'd known.

I'm trying out a higher dose of my medication.
Yesterday, I took it at 8:30am, finished my cup of tea, sneezed, then glanced over at the clock again and saw that it was suddenly 4:45pm.
And instead of doing the work I was supposed to have done, I appear to have re-created 'Potato Jesus' as a stained-glass window.

@RoboticistDuck There is in Switzerland, too. Fortunately, here you can get whichever meds you want, so if one is hard to get hold of they will give you another. I rotate 4 different meds. @actuallyadhd @actuallyaudhd

I'm seeing more and more people, especially non-artists, saying things like 'My AI art skills are really improving,' as if AI is a discipline such as drawing, painting or whatever.
Like people in 1981 who pricked the cellophane on their frozen ready-meals, popped them in the microwave and said 'My cooking skills are really improving. Maybe I'm a chef now.'

The binge continues unabated. These are some of the CDs I listened to (a lot) in the 90s. They're almost tame compared with some of his other works, e.g., Dance Nos 1-5, Music In 12 Parts, and the operas, which some find a bit challenging. There's something about his intense, repetitive loops that suggests autistic stimming and I'd be interested to know if the music of Glass (and other minimalist composers) resonates with other autistic people.

Just a quick follow-up to this. Somebody on the bird site reminded me that part of the libretto for Philip Glass' opera 'Einstein on the Beach' (which, even though it's 4 hours long, I have listened to 4 times this week) was written by a 13-year old autistic kid called Christopher Knowles. Now I know why I'm faintly obsessed with the texts, which repeat & repeat & repeat (& repeat)...

I'm just finishing up a novel. I've been writing screenplays & other story-led narratives for decades. Classic structure has been drummed into me. But then, when I was diagnosed as neurodivergent, I thought, 'Hold on, maybe the traditional story model is actually a neurotypical device...'
I decided to let my / write my novel. In doing so, I have developed a new revolutionary storytelling model. You're welcome.

People grumbling that is slow at the moment... You just turned up with 1 million people in a tiny, rural village and you're complaining there's a queue to get into the only tearoom, which is run by gay pensioners Babs & Maureen as a retirement hobby on Mons-Weds. Relax!
