Check the freedesktop site/repos. It was recently updated with support for 20, 30 & 40 series reclocking and hardware support. Runs pretty snappy on a 4080 and Plasma wayland. NVK, the vulkan part of it has been coming along nicely the past fee months as well.
Overclocking isn’t supported on newer boards with nouveau. You would need to use Nvidia’s binary driver for that. Look at the nvidia-smi command for doing it on wayland. I have not actually tried adjusting the clocks, just the power limit on Wayland though. Look at the”–application-clocks=“ cmdline option to it.
Fedora WS. I want to continue using an older version of Oobabooga Textgen WebUI, but the 6.6 kernel build of the Nvidia open source module with the x86 UEFI shim breaks compatibility with one of the Python *Blas packages....
Now regarding your actual problem, more than likely you are overthinking the issue. Either you are explicitly hitting a bug, possibly check fedora discussions, or another issue like broken libraries most likely. Does Fedora have offer an LTS kernel package? I’d try that and if that doesn’t work post logs to show what is happening. I am assuming it worked before on this machine.
Can you recommend a Bluetooth dongle that support s version 5.3, not too terribly expensive and available in Europe? Preferably works out of the box on Ubuntu LTS, but compiling my own kernel is also acceptable....
Does your laptop have a replaceable wireless card by chance? Could get a combo board with wifi and bluetooth like the intel ax series of boards if you can. I use a m.2 ax200 in my desktop.
If your system has a free PCIe slot you should be able to find a wifi card that will work. I personally am using an intel wifi board for bluetooth and have not had any problems with bluetooth. Their driver seems to be really stable on linux and in kernel and should be stable on windows as well. I got my m.2 card for about $20(usd) and wouldn’t expect that big of a difference for a standard PCIe card.
That doesn’t surprise me. I can only think of a couple games I bought at or near full price. One was a game that was priced fairly recently at $30(usd) msrp and I think I got it for $3 off and the other was at $60. Otherwise I generally wait. If developers want to raise msrp prices to $70, most will still wait, but will end up paying $3 to $6 probably on average more. When you consider inflation over the years it is surprising they don’t already have a much higher price.
So, I learned in physics class at school in the UK that the value of acceleration due to gravity is a constant called g and that it was 9.81m/s^2. I knew that this value is not a true constant as it is affected by terrain and location. However I didn’t know that it can be so significantly different as to be 9.776 m/s^2 in...
While I don’t know the answer and that for simplicity it should probably be a global average, it is probably some “constant“ measured from some location in either Europe or North America before they were able to measure globally using satellites.
Android is just as much linux. Sure it has some additional patches. Saying it isn’t linux would be the same as saying linux with Plasma or Gnome is not linux because it isn’t on a server. The user interface is just different and they block root.
I am trying to get Outer Wilds running on my Debian machine, and the “running” itself was a breeze. It runs perfectly on Lutris. But somehow my controller doesn’t communicate with the game. I did check if it is being picked up at all, and using the jstest-gtk tool, I could see that every input is being registered. Same...
Sorry, I misunderstood. What controller are you using? It seems odd that only jstest is detecting it. I initially needed to use an enviroment variable for my Steel series Stratus duo, but I think that was a layout issue.
I’d suggest checking section 5.3 of the arch linux wiki gamepad page. Debian probably either has an older version of the related package or retroPie might have extra patches. Could not say what package for certain though. Arch Wiki Gamepad
CP2077 had a bunch of issues on release as well. Much better now. I feel like they(developers) need to bring in different testers near release. If you have the same testers whom have been testing builds for years it can probably be hard to see the issues with the same clarity.
Also stop having release dates. Just use vague terms like 2nd half 2024. When you get the release build, anounce a date, like a month later, give your devs a couple weeks off as there will be missed bugs after release. Hard release dates aren’t helping these situations.
This is not strictly a Linux-issue as I reproduce this issue under Windows 10 as well (but can not reproduce under Android or macOS), but I will be using Linux for any troubleshooting and I wasn’t sure where else to post this....
You have pipewire. It is compatible with pulseaudio. I find it very surprising that you don’t show aac. I am not familiar with sbc-xq, but Apple products don’t support ldac and my understanding is sdc is not useful for audio listening, but rather calls. My M4s work fine on my desktop with an intel ax201 Bluetooth chipset. I have been using aac there, but ldac worked I think. I had problems with the usb BT adapter before that though.
The only issue I have had regarding nvidia is when kernel developers intentionally broke it. And that just delayed the kernel update for my system by a little bit.
Edit. And i just reverted the patch until nvidia released and updated driver.
After commit 0bc3126c9cfa0b8c761483215c25382f831a7c6f in linux-firmware my system stopped booting (due to being unable to mount root fs). The bug isn’t occurring all the time even with this commit, but I’ve still successfully tracked it down to this specific commit. Now I’m not sure where I can report it, as I could find...
I’d also report it to your distro assuming you are running their build as this could escalate it and have a report that others can see and also check to see if there is a bios update for your board as well.
Probably not yet as the gsp firmware loading that would allow full performance is not included in these patches and these patches will requires linux 6.6 to work at all while 6.4 is the current release.

RT works fine with my system, including in CP2077. You just have to enable the flags. RT work on NV and AMD on linux. Even DLSS and DLAA work, minus frame generation.
