OceanSoap, to asklemmy in What habits or tastes did you keep from your teenage years and that slightly ashame you as an adult?

I won’t eat onions of any kind. It’s a hard no.

I crave hot pockets. I can eat 4 in one sitting. I just don’t buy them anymore because if they’re in the house I binge on them. I eat much more healthy now, but if the negative consequences weren’t there, I’d eat nothing but hot pockets and fast food.

I’m a nail biter. I’ve managed to curb the habit enough to have pretty nails most of the time, but every now and then I succumb to the habit and have to regrow them. So annoying.

Ohh, a bit of honey is a great idea!

Home baked kale chips.

Dry off the kale, rip the leaves into bite-sized bits and toss with 1tblspoon olive oil, the add some salt, pepper, garlic powder and chilli powder (if you like a bit of heat). Then, arrange kale flat on a baking pan. Bake for 20 minutes at 300f. Let them cool for 10 minutes.

So delicious. Perfectly crispy and salty.

OceanSoap, to news in Model says her face was edited with AI to look white: ‘It’s very dehumanizing’

I’d be pissed too. They didn’t just change her skin tone, they completely took her out of the photo. For models who are sometimes paid in exposure, this is like yanking that pay away from her. Whatever photoshop is done, she needs to at least look like it’s her for her to be able to get the benefits from doing the work.

But even models who are paid money, there should be laws against making them look like someone completely different, in terms of the brand that they work for.

And that designer is a pos for sharing that photo, even if a fan did send it to him as “fan art”. Beyond the face change being in bad taste, he’s a professional, so he should be promoting the actual model who walked for him.

No, you throw a load into the washer and push a magic machine that sucks up the floor dirt for a half-hour and then drive your speed carriage to a plethora of stores for two hours to pick up supplies. Then you come home and put your supplies in the magic ice box that is powered 24/7, throw your laundry into the dryer, and check on the dinner in the box that slow-cooks your food without any stirring needed.

Then, instead of going to bed, you turn on all the lights and enjoy 5 hours of free time, where you can see perfectly fine because magic.

I’m sorry, I wish I could fling you back to that time to give you a reality check. Do we work too much? Yes. Do we work more than midevil peasants did? Absolutely not.

OceanSoap, to technology in YouTube's plan backfires, people are installing better ad blockers

Plus, no way would it ever stay at that price. Nothing ever does. The only service I pay for now is spotting, and that’s just to have ad-free music on my half-hour drive to work.

At this point, I don’t even care about the user tracking. I just don’t want to sit through unskippable ads anymore. Especially when it’s the same ad over and over again.

Drugs going through that now. I took some stuff in college. No way would I touch it today. Fentinyl in everything.

Well, it would be bad to admit that it was a failure.

For some reason, I’d never heard of vimeo until YouTube was already the default video powerhouse.

Thanks for the newpipe suggestion!

Yeah, it was a year of hell on earth for me. Isolating, depressing, soul-destroying.

Thank you, I feel much better now.

You might be taking some friendly debate as more sinister than it is. It’s okay to tell them you straight up don’t believe and need some better evidence than a show on Netflix. When they tell you to watch it, ask them to sum it up for you, and go from there.

You can laugh at the absurdity without being mean-spirited. Most people who get hooked into that stuff don’t really believe, they like the “but what if?” Aspect of it.

OceanSoap, to asklemmy in I’ve been somewhat of a fuck up in life, now doing better but still struggle with things. More details below.

A fraud, you say? That’s called imposters syndrome. I suffered big time from it too.

But you went to school and passed the required classes. You’re not a fraud.

I fucked up a bunch in my early years too, until I was diagnosed with a severe form of MTHFR. Once I got on the right meds, my lifelong brainfog went away, and I could suddenly do all the tasks I found so difficult to do prior, including study. Went back to school. Now I design Substations.

I also get the feeling sometimes that I’ve faked my way into the job I have. But no. I went to school and passed the classes. I’m supposed to be here.

So are you.
