Fun fact for you, many credit-card/debit-card chips alone are comparably powerful to the computers that sent us to the moon.
It’s mentioned a bit in this short article about how EMV chips are made. This summary of compute power does come from a company that manufactures EMV chips, so there is bias present.
Anecdotal, but I’ve never had a teacher tell me why Wikipedia wasn’t a good source. Similarly, I’ve never had a teacher educate students on how to properly use resources like Wikipedia as a starting point for sources. All my peers and I heard was “Wikipedia is bad, never use it, it’s not reliable, don’t trust anything from it.”
I wish I had been taught why and how earlier, but I had to learn why and how myself.
It’s not often that I can saturate a 1Gbps line, unless you have a large household I don’t see much point in going over 1Gbps right now. Though I’m sure there are some exceptions.
Future proofing an Internet line doesn’t make much sense to me. If a higher speed plan is available, I’d just upgrade my plan if the need arises, save money in the meantime.
Sorry, I had only thought about from the point of view of a customer future-proofing their Internet plan, not the ISP future proofing. I replied from that viewpoint, as the original comment was from that pov. I didn’t think about it otherwise, but you’re right that ISPs should future proof. That’s not silly.
This week mine was homemade soda. Fermented sodas, citric acid + bicarbonate sodas, different juices and flavors like lime + lemon + cherry and pomegranate or mango peach or cola (homemade knock off)
I wish I could force internship applications as my hyperfocus right now. If I could pick what becomes hyperfocus (to a more specific degree) that would be a superpower.
That’s a good analogy, I like Legos as well. Perhaps I am more of a builder and tinkerer than a player. Unless it’s Cities Skylines, I play the shit out of that!
I found this old project from 2018 that redesigned Reddit into a frontend similar to Outlook. Would be fun to see this on Lemmy especially since we have a lot of frontends.
At least they reversed it, but they probably still waited for most people to give in and make a Facebook account. I still log in with an Oculus account.
Yeah, I’m still using my Quest 2, but I’m sure in time there’ll be a really good offer from someone else, and I would buy that. I’m really interested in what Valve might have to offer soon
I’m with you. I want Meta to keep heavily developing in the VR and AR space, but not so I can buy products from them. I just want the increase in new products and innovation from other companies that would come with that development.
I think an open alternative would become more likely as VR becomes more adopted. While I don’t like Meta, they are doing a good job at increasing adoptions, and that’s something that I’m certainly happy about.
While this is true, it was not in consideration during my purchase. I was not as informed at the time. I’ll wait for a time when there is a good competitor for untethered VR, that is also an appreciable difference to upgrade.
To be fair, I don’t think a subscription for consumables like filters is an anti-consumer practice. What is anti-consumer, is if I buy a fridge and pay for the whole thing, but they want an extra subscription to use part of the fridge. (Ice maker comment above)
I don’t think it’s fair of your landlady to give you grief about your bikes. You pay the rent, you get to keep your possessions there. If you have 3 bikes I don’t see why it’s her business, unless it’s a shared rent space or something.
Currently on Vyvanse, now generic, with generic Adderall as midday booster. Luckily I’ve been okay so far, but I’m susceptible. I’ve tried many different medications and this combination works the best without ruining my personality. I’m not sure what’s going on with the shortages, but I really hope that shit gets under control. Both for my own security, and for everyone else affected or potentially affected by the shortages.
For sure, I got one from a family member, the solar panel only put out 15W with no load drawn. The battery was pinched in the casing as well. I was surprised to see it did have proper voltage protection, though.
Yeah, unless I need something ASAP, I usually only buy name brands, but not expensive items on Amazon. Other stuff I go to Ali for and just wait a little longer. Expensive stuff I buy in person or directly from the manufacturer when possible. Recently I’ve been trying to supplement Amazon purchases with small businesses where possible.
Yeah it’s been over a week man, that’s weird. You should let some scientists know about it, they might pay you to do some sort of research project on it.
