I remember trying RIF way back in the day. I think before the official app was even rolled out. I can’t even tell you why or how I quit RIF as it’s been so long ago.
I personally didn’t have much of a problem with the official app, even though it could be wonky at times. I was more of a lurker and not a mod nor any kind of power user or anything. I left Reddit more on the principle of not wanting to support a greedy company anymore.
I’m impressed with the feedback I’m getting. I didn’t expect my post to get much response or engagement (traction if you are from Mastodon). Grateful for the help and warm welcome!...
Created on June 1 of this year, lemmy.world quickly grew to 51k users and then blew up after reddit’s API debacle on July 1, doubling to a whopping 100k in just 9 days later!
I was curious about this yesterday as well. I did not find this post in mastodon searching #mytesthashtag but I found another post from your hachyderm.io post.
Hey all, I recently left reddit like many of you. I have a question regarding lemmy and the fediverse on the history of banning and defederation. I have noticed several posts calling for varying communities to be disconnected. were these removal requests as prevalent before the mass migration? Usually I am all for communities...
Thanks for sharing that site. Very interesting. As someone who enjoyed lurking on r/conservative and r/conspiracy (just to see what’s going on in their echo chambers) I am imagining I might need to join a different server if I want to rubberneck those types of instances.
@ernest how do I report a Magazin on kbin.social ? There is a usere called "ps" who is posting to his own "antiwoke" Magazin on kbin.social. So this Lemmy place is pretty awesome, and I see it growing by the hour! Just like others link external sites for content here, we should really also share Lemmy content to external (e.g. Reddit, Twitter, etc.) to show others where the users are going now....
I think everyone needs to wait and see what kind of migration happens after July 1st. Seems like these places are better suited for slow growth from my observation.
Utopia? Flying jetson cars? Mole people living underground? Everything’s on fire and humanity ends? I’m just curious about anyone’s thoughts in general 😀
Well in that scenario, I think we surely would invent suits to let people at least go outside and perform tasks. Still bleak af tho and not too far fetched maybe
Hello fellow lemmites. This whole reddit debacle is really tragic, and I’m looking for alternatives. Problem is, none of the alternatives have subs like r/buteyko or r/becomingtheiceman. Does anybody know of any alternatives with similar subs, if any exist?
It seems to me, you’re just not gonna find many of the niche type subs around - and then you’ve got parallel subs scattered around other instances. I’m still very new to this too but there is a sub called New Communities that is pretty active with new places to join:
Yeah I’m kinda with your line of thinking, hence why I posed the question. I am gonna still try and support the local mocktail place that’s opening just because I think it’s a great idea. I’m just skeptical on the long term viability of such an establishment
