The worst between French and English is “I miss you”. It translates to “tu me manques” which breaks down to “you me miss” and neither makes any sense. Oh and “This makes sense” also doesn’t translates right “ça fait du sense” means nothing in French.
I would greatly appreciate if anyone could participate in the survey I created for my research about fediverse . it won’t take much time and it is hosted on privacy friendly service, cryptpad . all responses are anonymized. You don’t have to answer all questions. Fill as much you can and submit when you had enough....
The survey really tries to push you towards censorship of centralized media, when the issue (for me) was Reddit controlling monetization of the media. I’m not on X/Twitter because of censorship, but I’m not using mastodon either. I’m on Lemmy because Reddit killed Apollo.
I preheat to 170°c. That allows the filament to be soft enough to be cleaned (with tweezers or a brush, it peels off in one piece most of the time) without oozing. Then I do a 10mm retract before probing.
I make custom cables for the film industry. Some of the cables I make are ave $250 and they’re not even smart cables. Those UsB cables are not just a wire they’re a communication interface embedded in them.
I don’t understand why phone makers don’t design the phone with the cover in mind. Make the cover a part of the phone. Nokia had interchangeable covers and it was awesome! There were whole stores with different covers to choose from. I had 2 or 3 different ones and would swap depending on my outfit.
As long as they don’t suddenly stop supporting Apple devices overnight, leaving Apple to scramble to make their own search engine that sucks and still sucks 10 years later. #mapgate
They’re getting better but still takes you to the the back entrance of the place now and then. Plus it doesn’t take me to the shortest drive on my commute. Keeps on taking me to local streets, adding 5 minutes then I disregard the turn and it updates for a shorter drive. But they’re making progress.
And when the data sheet is wrong that gets fun. You start parsing I2S for each bit and record the result until you see a pattern. Or when your program crashes the USB and you can’t reupload without hitting boot or reset but they are inside the box.
On small computers like Arduino there is a very small memory called eeprom that stays when powered off. It saves ultra low level data (at the bit and byte level) if you don’t “format” after changing what is being saved where it then tries to read gibberish and things go bonk.
I’m dealing with this right now. Making the largest embedded project for me (self taught) RP2040 in Cpp with a TFT touch screen, an IMU with fusion, a strip of “neopixels”, a 12v battery voltage reader, some Lemo connectors and custom cables, all in a 3D printed case in 3 parts. I’m so close to the end but still facing some code issues.
GBA has the benefit of handling all games from the OG to the GBA games without being too bulky like the DS line. Plus GbA has some great re-editions of SNES games as well as Pokémon FireRed which is a nice revisit of the OG Pokemon (in my eyes). The backlight was awesome! The lack of headphones, not so much but it prepared me for the future (looking at you, Apple). The original GBA shape was much nicer though. I wish they had made a landscape console with backlight.
Could be to save up on battery charging overnight but the passcode in the morning sucks plus what if someone tries to force a call to you (double call and such)?
Youtube let the other shoe drop in their end-stage enshittification this week. Last month, they required you to turn on Youtube History to view the feed of youtube videos recommendations. That seems reasonable, so I did it. But I delete my history every 1 week instead of every 3 months. So they don’t get much from my choices....
I looked at the Apple’s website and noticed that they were giving focal lengths for each camera but no sensor size. On one of their camera they give the focal length and field of view. So I took my P-Cam app (a cinematographer app to do camera and lenses math) and for a camera to have a focal length of 13mm and a field of view...
The focal length is the distance of the film plan and the nodal point of the lens. The field of view is the angle you can see with a certain lens focal (nodal point distance) with a given observation surface (could be analog, digital, biological) Whether it’s celluloid, digital, stills video or phone or your eyes. All have the same physics and optics. This applies to any and all cameras.
No, field of view is the maximum angle you can cover if you were to trace the cone of what is inside the frame of the sensor/film plan for a given focal length. Focal length is the distance between the nodal point and the film plan/sensor. The nodal point is the point where the light rays all pass through when crossing towards the sensor. For lenses that have multiple elements you still have the same rules as you use the focal point of all the elements cumulated. There is no curvature of a lens.
I read a post (back on Reddit a few years ago) someone had the same situation they ended up buying a TV at the local BestBuy to place in front of the Hotel’s TV and returned it before leaving.
I recently went to a hotel that had something like that. A breakout box with HDMI in and RCA Video in even. They also had a special Netflix app that you could connect to your account temporarily with your phone or credentials.
