The live service space is so crowded now that it would be difficult for even Naughty Dog to break into it successfully. Not to mention the fatigue around live service games lately. They made the right call by not trend chasing.

I think both ideas can be true: that game development is a complex, creative endeavor and that as a product, consumers can be dissatisfied with a video game they paid $70 for.

Lately, I'm finding myself waiting for sales on AAA games because so many release in a buggy, incomplete state. This paid dividends with games like Jedi Survivor, that had a big number of bugs and performance issues at launch and plays decently now several months later.

This was my favorite announcement from TGA.

Man, fuck Embracer for scooping up Studios without a good long term plan to just to treat them as disposable.

Good. The Fandom pages are always slow and bloated to view.

The problem with that argument is that Bill Maher received similar backlash for announcing he would return without writers, only to U Turn as well.

The long and short of it is that, 3 writers felt disposable by Drew Barrymore and didn't want to return to a working environment where they could be thrown under the bus at any moment.

Honestly, Boomers can go kick rocks. Millennials being blamed for years for their missteps was incredibly exhausting. Maybe they should claim responsibility for what lead us here today.

One upside to all the social media upheaval is it's gotten me back into feeds in a big way.

RSS has a lot in common philosophically with the . Makes me think of what might have been... and what yet may be.

@MrDrumble I also returned to RSS Feeds and landed on Inoreader. The one thing I'm running into is that some websites like Axios don't have or restrict the creation of RSS feeds for their sites.

Twitter says it couldn't tell people about rate limiting in advance | Engadget (www.engadget.com)

It seemed strange that Twitter posted this update on its business blog until the company mentioned that rate limiting has had a "minimal" effect on advertising. Many pointed out that limiting the number of tweets users could read per day would make it harder for advertisers to reach users and for Twitter to make money....

I'm calling bullshit. Most responsible sites let users know in advance if downtime is expected.

What a disaster. I feel sorry for the fans who were lied to by ABK on what they were receiving with OW2. It definitely feels like the point of moving to OW2 was just to pivot to a more exploitive monetization model.

Most of what you said is spot on except for FF16. FF16 is an action RPG that is somewhat of a fusion between Devil May Cry 5 and Final Fantasy with Game of Thrones style storytelling. It's currently PS5 exclusive but will probably get a PC port down the line.

The game that's possibly a prequel to 1 is the spinoff game Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. I haven't finished SoP yet but it definitely seems that way.

I'm glad that it seems like they've turned around on this game but they cannot be revisionist about the performance of the game at launch. It was quite bad and we have receipts to prove it.

E3 growing up was like having another Christmas to look forward to. Somewhat bittersweet that it's effectively gone but E3 has an identity crisis it needs to resolve first.

E3 was started as an industry networking event but overtime morphed to be a consumer facing show as well. With pre-recorded presentations being the norm, the Big 3 don't have any incentive to pay the ESA to have a space like that.

I think E3 needs to either revert back to an industry networking event or become a PAX-like consumer show.
