Do you have shared spreadsheets? I’ve been trying to find an alternative to Google Sheets, but I’ve not found one yet. Someone had suggested Disroot, but the spreadsheet doesn’t work well with Android.
Ik, I probably should not be lurking on Reddit anyways, but we are missing a lot of communities here. The only communities I can reliably follow and get quality content is this one and c/linux, c/privacy and some FOSS subs...
I’ve seen several posts (I don’t know personally because I stopped using Reddit) saying that new accounts without email are unable to post/comment and get banned from subs for attempting to participate. I think that’s what OP is referring to.
I’m sure they will eventually, but they’ve been working hard the last couple months just to keep up with the stability issues from the huge influx of people to Lemmy. Once they get everything smoothed out, then they can get to the small things like that.
I want to create a Pixelfed account but I’m not sure which instance to choose. I’m in the US, so I was just going to pick the default and largest option, but I know spreading out the instances is one advantage to the federated network, so it then makes sense to choose a smaller one....
How do you install an alternate os if the phone isn’t rootable? Everything I’ve tried starts with rooting, and there’s not a way to root my particular phone.
I’m probably just overly paranoid, but I don’t trust that Google, in particular, would make the most easily rooted phone (Pixel) without burying something beneath the os that still tracks things.
I’m more excited about something akin to the Fairphone that’s built from the ground up with no relationship to Google.
I installed the official Reddit app and went on it to see what the old place was looking like now. My inbox was filled with spam. The “home feed” shows subs I never subscribed to. There are so many ads. Between the ads and the the extra subs in the feed, it’s hard to just scroll. I also noted a lot of spam in some of the...
I keep my account up because I’m in subs that have technical help for certain hardware and software. I have lots of answers to issues that can be very helpful when searching. It sucks that Spez has forced so many people to delete important help like that.

I’ve gotten “invited to join” several subs. When I look to see what the subs are, they are just places trying to market something. I never got any spam in my inbox before the Reddit shakeup.
As I stated in several other replies, I still use it because of a couple specific hardware and software help subs that haven’t migrated anywhere. As long as the owners keep the subreddits as their only place for help for their product, then I’ll have to keep using Reddit. That’s also why I haven’t deleted my account. I have help topics that people can find when searching for those devices or app. I’d hate to take those resources away just because Spez is a douche.
I used it on a guest account on my phone, so it was isolated from the rest of my system. I normally use RIF that’s been modified with Revanced to work signed in to Reddit. There was an issue of some comments not showing up, so I used the official app to see them. The App is a shit show. When I’m using RIF it’s just like it was before.
Export them where? I have tens of thousands of posts and comments. Idk how to easily find the ones that would be relvant and then idk where I would put them that they would turn up in a search. Right now if you search for an issue that I have a resolution for, it will come up with the Reddit post or reply that I’ve made. I don’t know what I would do with them if I exported them so that people could find them.
I’ve gotten a couple. I went through their profiles and they are making hundreds of comments a day to seemingly random subs. I can only assume that they’re bots.
I get that some instances use the domain + TLD to make a word, like lemm.ee or to an extent, sh.itjust.works. But I’ve seen so many TLDs I had no idea existed, like .world, .zone, .social, and yes .works as well....
I see several that can push notifications from self hosted services like Gotify, Pushbit, Uptime Kuma, etc. But is there anything that can handle SMS portion that PB does so dang well? I tried KDE Connect and it was not a great experience. But I’ll give it another try once my new PC is built, but between my Macbook and my...
Paying on your mortgage every week can drastically reduce your interest, depending on how your interest is calculated. Even if you pay the same amount at you would per month, paying it every week could save thousands of dollars.
I didn’t know any companies still did that. I pay $25/month for unlimited and it’s only gone down over the years. I started paying $45/month about 15 years ago. I know of some companies that are cheaper, but I haven’t had any issues, so I haven’t bothered to switch.
It seems anytime I try to check out Mastodon it is always some negative political view or affiliation of why X, Y & Z is bad. Is this just what most people like boosting or is it a sign of botting to push negativity over the more positive headlines?...
Everyone has the ability to change the things around them. People want to change the world. That is an unrealistic goal to start with. What you can change directly and immediately is your family/household. Then you can move to your neighborhood. As you change the things closest to you, then you can slowly move out to larger things.
Going on a worldwide platform and bitching may make you feel better, but it does nothing to change things and just makes people avoid you.
I understand that in end to end encryption the message is encrypted and only the recipient has the key to Decrypt it. How is the key transmitted, and how can the key not get intercepted with the message?
How is the recipient the only one with a private key? If the key is sent with the message, then how does it determine the recipient? Couldn’t someone spoof the recipient’s credentials? What credentials are used to determine the proper recipient?
I don’t think you understand what Open Source is. Open Source just means that the code isn’t hidden. Even if you’re talking about Free Open Source Software (FOSS), the “free” isn’t a reference to the monetary cost of the software.
I’m looking for new discreet earbuds. The listening time is very important. As you can see from the pic, there are 2 different times. Idk which one is the actual time the battery will last while continually playing. 4-5 hours is fine. 1.5 hours is not good at all.
