For me I would say “The Expanse” is a huge one. If there was ever a self made family, the crew of the Rocinante is one of the best. The amount of time they spend together and how they congeal into life long partners and friends in the face of some truly awful events is really inspiring to me.
Adrian Tchaikovsky’s The Final Architecture -trilogy’s one main theme is this meeting of people due to circumstances and growing into a made-family, with the good and the bad that such units entail. All in all its a fun space opera trilogy.
Main reason I started using Kiwi browser on my mobile some years back (3-4?) was that it blocks AMP-sites. Ability to run many chrome extensions has been also a good plus, though interacting with some interfaces on them is sometimes difficult or downright impossible.
For what researchers say is an array of reasons — including technology, heavy academic schedules and an overall slower-motion process of growing up — millennials and now Gen Zers are having less sex, with fewer partners, than their parents’ and grandparents’ generations did. The social isolation and transmission scares...
I’ve put together a collage of some books from last months What are you Reading? post. It’s mostly random, but the more discussion something gets the more it stands out to me. Going forward I’m going to make a new post every month to talk about what people are reading....
I’ve been reading a thrift store find as of late, “The Mammoth Book Of Best New SF 11”, a short story collection first published in 1998, ed. Gardner Dozois by Robinson Publishing.
In general I’ve been reading different sci fi short story collections of as of late, while waiting for the next Final Architecture -book to drop.
Don’t get me wrong. Apple removing audio jack was the biggest facepalm in smartphone history. And you can thank it for not being able to make an upgrade without sacrificing audio jack (and SD card too :/). But USB-C is getting standardized everywhere now (laptops, smartphones, etc.). What makes USB-C earphones not worth the...
I’ve had 3 android phones in the past 5 years (Samsung, Samsung, latest is HMD Nokia) and every one of them had their usb-c connector broken (in about a year). They really seem to be quite crap when they come out of the factory.
I’'ve never had ANY device, in my 40’ish years on this hurling ball of a space ship, brake their 3.5 mm jack. Not a single, and there must have been dozens if not hundreds devices with those jacks.

Poster is also a China-shill/misinformation operator. Check their post/comment history. Sowing confusion and hatred all around is abc in their playbook.
I’ve tried using it over the years but I never liked it because there was no information. So last night I looked at my local city and there is almost no information at all. I spent a few hours last night adding buildings and restaurants and removing incorrect items. It was actually kind of fun and therapeutic and I plan to do...
Same thing going on here in Finland. Movie tickets are often 20-25 € for “normal” movies, shit ton of ads to go through and rude customers scrolling Insta or talking through out the movie.
Yeah, it truly is. There are some local smaller and cheaper cinemas here and there, but they usually cant show new movies at all. They are rare, too. There are couple of big movie chains that dominate and effectively force an duopoly/triopoly with their prices.
Hi people, I was wondering if anyone of you knew a good call recording app for Android? I’m starting soon a new job and it involves a lot of interviewing, and I was thinking of recording these phone interviews for note taking. My company doesnt provide software for it, just a work phone. It’s (presumably) running Android 12...
Btw update for anyone stumbling upon this: I could not get any of the (unrooted) options working, so sadly I had to resort to the old fashioned “speaker phone call and digital recorder” -method.
Still, I thank you everyone for your suggestions and hopefully future Android versions can get this functionality back.

What's a sci-fi or fantasy book or series that you want to see adapted as a movie/television series?
I didn’t read this series when I was a kid, but I finally got around to reading Roger Zelazny’s Chronicles of Amber....
