So growing up, I had this idea that the American dream was about that if you put in an honest amount of work, you would be rewarded with a good life. This would mean you would be able to take care of yourself and your family, afford a car and a house. In my view, working one job would probably be enough....
Chinese demand for nickel, an important ingredient in EV batteries, has triggered a mining boom in the remote regions of Indonesia. The country has signed over a dozen deals worth more than $15 billion with suppliers for EV giants like Tesla and Hyundai Motor, but deaths and injuries from industrial accidents have been racking...

Who the fuck cares if someone isn’t into trans people? We’ve heard it a million times. It’s transphobic because 9 times out of 10, the person saying it isn’t just neutrally expressing a presence they happen to have; they’re saying it because it’s a more socially acceptable way to talk about how disgusting they find our bodies.
That is very clearly not what I’m saying. That’s not transphobic, but constantly talking about it and shouting how disgusting you find trans bodies and how you’d never fuck them is transphobic. Nobody online cares about your sexual preference; it only matters to your sex partners.
Here’s another one: Capitalists want to pay their workers as little as they can get away with. But they want workers to spend as much money on their products as possible.
So any given capitalist will underpay their own workers for short-term profit and expect workers to spend extra money on their products. But those workers’ employers do the same thing, so those workers don’t have enough spending money left over to buy their products. At a large scale, this is not a sustainable system.
Note that this is subtly different from the “one level in every class” thing; this is about taking your levels one at a time, starting from level 1, rather than a fully-finished level 13 concept....
I have always liked open world games as a concept, but I have a very bad sense of direction. So whenever I play open world games I keep getting lost and frustrated. Eventually getting bored and dropping the game. I am curious how other people with bad sense of direction cope with this problem.
I don’t post on reddit since I know how futile it is to create any change given its size, but given Lemmy is small I might as well give it a try here....
What are some good comedy series to watch lately ?
Recently I binge watched Abbot Elementary, and I couldn’t get enough of it, watched the British version of ghosts and it was quite good too....
Did the "American dream" change over time, or was it just my interpretation of it?
So growing up, I had this idea that the American dream was about that if you put in an honest amount of work, you would be rewarded with a good life. If one innocent person is tortured so that everyone else can live and the world doesn't end, is that simultaneously unfair but also morally preferable over complete destruction of everything?

No more than one level in any class; can you make it work?

What's the oddest thing you've ever done in the Sims?
I realized my parent sim was going to die before his child grew up, so I had him build a Servo to become the child’s new caretaker after his death.
