Violentmonkey, an opensource alternative for Tampermonkey (kbin.social)

Since Greasemonkey is no longer being updated and /kbinStyles has been thriving, with people creating a lot of userscript for added functionality, I thought I should introduce Violentmonkey here. It is a really good opensource alternative for Tampermonkey and works well....

If you look for information about it (edit: of violentmonkey) years ago you will probably find negative reviews, as it had an ambiguous privacy policy that generated many suspicions and accusations; but they fixed it a long ago, it is an excellent addon.

"Antiwoke" magazin on kbin.social posting bullshit like "how to end Wokeness" and "Time to reject the extrem trans lobby harming our society" How to report ? he is the moderator of that magazin. (calckey.social)

@ernest how do I report a Magazin on kbin.social ? There is a usere called "ps" who is posting to his own "antiwoke" Magazin on kbin.social. Please remove this and dont give them a chance to etablish them self on kbin.social. When I report his stuff it will go to him because he is the moderator of the magazin? Seems like a...

OMG, yoU WANT TO CREATE A FAR LeFTIST ECHO CHAMBER

You do realize that this post is specifically about ideological censorship, right?

@Infiltrated_ad8271@kbin.social avatar

Since you read in context, could you tell me where the hate speech is?

I only see one article where they spend most of the time making a disclaimer in favor of trans rights, followed by a critique of non-diagnosis and surgery on children, or how nothing is allowed to be questioned. That last one we can see in this thread, people are foaming at the mouth over a title (which includes "extreme, btw...), it's crazy.

Infiltrated_ad8271,
@Infiltrated_ad8271@kbin.social avatar

It belongs to the extremes, it is really worrying if you think that only in one of them.

Infiltrated_ad8271,
@Infiltrated_ad8271@kbin.social avatar

Could you clarify what you would do in cases like this? Censor based on misinterpretation of the clickbait headline, even if it does not contain hate content at all?

Ublock origin can handle it, although I don't know if it's due to a non-default filter list.

Wayback machine also usually works: https://web.archive.org/web/20230626043019/https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/25/us/politics/wagner-future-ukraine-war.html/

It is only "nice" if you agree with the ideology of the owners completely, otherwise you are banned.

somegeek, to RedditMigration

Does it matter which lemmy server I join?

and if yes, what are some trusted and good servers?

@Infiltrated_ad8271@kbin.social avatar

My opinion is the opposite, seeing that an instance so toxic, prejudiced, censorious and biased as beehaw, chose to defederate from those other two instances, makes those two suddenly of high interest.

Infiltrated_ad8271,
@Infiltrated_ad8271@kbin.social avatar

This will be something to regret when a community wants to avoid censorship or move before the closure of an instance.

and we won’t collect any usage data without your awareness and consent first

If it really requires explicit and informed consent, then that's ok.

Is this something new? Is the same thing happening with the rest of the admins?

Infiltrated_ad8271,
@Infiltrated_ad8271@kbin.social avatar

You may want to use something like libredirect to access rimgo, an alternative front-end for imgur; although it must be said that public instances are often limited.

Individuals are solely responsible for their actions. If someone of the same sex, country or whatever does something wrong, it is not the duty of those who share an identity trait to take responsibility.

Try saying "it is unacceptable that blacks do nothing when other blacks commit crimes, they are also the problem and we must act against them". It is discriminatory and disgusting, this article is hate speech.
It is particularly ridiculous that she acts as if she is part of the solution, encouraging others to "join in," when she admits to doing the very thing she criticizes.

Combating sexism is a very serious matter that requires all of us to work together, but there are always people willing to double down on the sexist bet.

One thing that's surprised me about the Reddit shitshow

Is how easily mods have caved in once the admins threatened to remove them. I had thought we'd see quite a few cases where Reddit would have to step in an replace entire mod teams (effectively killing the community). But it seems like that hasn't happened at all - the closest we've got is mods being reordered....

Infiltrated_ad8271,
@Infiltrated_ad8271@kbin.social avatar

I am not surprised that the mods gave in, not only because of egolatry, but because I don't think anyone wants to see the fruit of their efforts taken away and in the hands of anyone. I have been more surprised by the users.

A little over a week ago people were voting massively everywhere in favor of the protest, but nowadays everywhere I go, I only see people saying how stupid the protest is, that this is a whim that the mods are forcing on the users, that the mods are doing it for their selfish interests, and that the whole thing makes no sense.
The worst thing is that the mods, instead of toning it down and settling for effective measures that don't generate as much opposition, like shutting down one day a week (that should have been the initial and permanent proposal), they keep pushing to vote proposals that no one wants like restricting everything but silly pictures.

Users against mods while admins rub their hands together, and the only alternative is a couple of platforms in too early development with hardly any users. Reddit handled this extremely poorly, but will come out winning :-/
