The Auschwitz Memorial on Thursday criticised social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, for failing to remove an antisemitic post on the site.
The last time I saw a controversy over this it was about a general criticism of circumcision (i.e., infant genital mutilation and violation of human rights), its insane advocates often maliciously play the antisemitism card for instant victory without argumentation.
Nowadays, people use terms such as antisemitism, racism, misogyny, etc. with so much arbitrariness, malice or simple ignorance, that I no longer trust anything if I don't see the original content.
Apart from being open source what is Linux? Could I not create my own operating system that is different to windows or Macos and call it Steve, again there might be an awnser for this and sounds stupid but its more out of curiosity.
Nobody would call linux to android (or vice versa), despite having the same kernel.
At least if we speak colloquially, the environment/ecosystem is really enough to define the OS.
The worst thing is that, compared to empress, they were quite moderate. I don't know what's wrong with them or why they're all so mad... but I love the drama, I'm looking forward to the next episode.
Some of the things I have written down, are mostly old so if anything is missing or needs correction, please let me know:
They have shady origins, no one knows who they are or where they came from, but they did it with enough funds to quickly expand a large worldwide network of servers and an endless aggressive advertising campaign everywhere.
Misleading advertising, from saying they are the best in the world to adding countdowns to get an offer that restarts when clearing cookies.
They were hacked and tried to hide it for a very, very long time.
Their app on mac pings google every 20 seconds. The android app is riddled with trackers. They use a myriad of integrated google services.
They do not offer open source or audited apps.
If you cancel the auto-renewal of the service, you lose many secondary services and they charge you weeks before the end of the subscription.
In short, they are the kind of company that screams that they don't deserve anyone's trust, and that's a big problem for a VPN. I suggest mullvad, they have a long history of good practices, are privacy activists and are backed by companies like mozilla.
Apparently, almost everything (within the law) is allowed until it generates enough controversy to annoy the admin, in which case it is banned regardless of whether it violated the code of conduct or not.
They have a very long history of mismanaging money and wasting it on worthless projects, not to mention multi-million dollar executive salaries while laying off hundreds of workers and many other controversies.
Firefox is the only reason I don't want that useless walking corpse to die for good. And I can't even support it, since it belongs to the corporation rather than the foundation.
You might want to tell her about bitrot, the pixels in her beloved collection will be dying randomly without her being able to notice.
On the other hand, it's not like a usb with fat32 is any better at all, or that a good backup system is easy to set up (maybe synology?).
Thank you for thinking about accessibility. I am unable to see white text on a black background for more than half a minute, or end up seeing just a blur.
Hello, the only thing from stopping me to fully use Manjaro as my primary daily OS is that pirating on linux is inconvenient. When i install pirated games on Linux they must be really lightweight to support, like Undertale or Papers Please, because WINE uses Vulkan graphics and they are fucking terrible on slightly more heavy...
It is inevitable that there will be a performance loss when using wine, but it is usually quite small. Partially/totally broken games aside, if you have a good pc you won't notice the difference.
So, if the fps of games like superhot (a bit ironic example) are terrible for you, I guess there are two options:
There is something wrong with your setup, for example a gpu with little (or no?) vulkan compatibility, or using the nouveau driver instead of nvida.
Or the small difference in performance makes a big impact on your toaster, so you should use using something like AtlasOS, while eating toast.
Im getting lots of NSFW content in the last time. I didnt find anything to disable the media preview in the sidebar either so there is no way to use the site in a setting where someone might see my screen. Anyone got a tipp or ways to change that?
A random list already seems to me a crappy function that almost nobody will appreciate, but here it is worse because it includes what is explicitly blocked.
That's why I liked hots, the capability to block chat from the start and for everyone.
It's not really a problem in non-competitive modes, as people usually just use on-map alerts.
Look, we know System76 laptops are based as fuck. I mean, Coreboot, Open source firmware, PopOS, and a fucking open source mobo in the works, just so fucking based....
I will never choose system76, they are strictly murica-centric (until the name lol) and don't respect their potential customers from the rest of the world. Almost all of their laptops are simply clevo with another logo, but even then they don't deign to offer something as extremely basic as keyboards in other languages, even if they are available from their vendor.
Also, in the stores that preset linux there is usually a bad quality-price ratio, but system76 is particularly expert in this. Special mention to the mediocre mechanical keyboard (only for murica, obviously) they designed, 200-300$.
The only good thing I can currently say about them is that they have some open firmware (coreboot, basically), but it's not even that remarkable. Not only are there several companies in the competition that also do it, but it's even the case of tiny ones with a couple of employees like novacustom.
These changes alone (without other major reforms) would be particularly catastrophic in sectors that require large investment over a long period of time. For example, pharmaceuticals typically cost billions and take 10-15 years to develop.
The pharmaceutical companies would definitely not cut back on their profits, so at "best" they would either get public money to make it several times faster, or they would cut back on quality and safety (*lobbies have entered the chat); and in either case the final price would be higher.
There is plenty of room to get worse, even in the current favorable conditions they prioritize known cost-effective palliative treatments over research into expensive solutions that may lead to nothing.
If the entire health sector were public and concerned itself with saving lives instead of making money, it would be a different story, but that is where we get into major reforms.

She is a misandric, homophobic, transphobic, extremely irascible, conflictive, psychotic, rude, narcissistic, paranoid, conspiratorial, liar and a long etcetera that probably includes schizophrenia and drugs. Oh, and she has a cult, she is multifaceted ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I see people hate snap packaging and removing it if their OS support it. Is it because it’s NOT fully open-source or just due to how the technology works?...
In general the integration of flatpak is quite good (even more if we compare it with snap), but there are still some gaps. In this case there are some solutions like this one.
Anonchatgpt should stop being recommended, it really sucks. It has a VERY strict character limit, immediately forget/ignore the context, requires recaptcha, and the "anon" part of the name is obviously fake if you read the privacy policy.
I find it hard to decide who to hate less because both are so ambiguous about their future. Currently threads doesn't allow access to any of their content without signup and using their damn mobile app, while twitter allows free access from any browser.
On the other hand, twitter is recently limiting access without an account, and threads could have a browser version and federation with the fediverse.
I think it is a big mistake to underestimate the effect of having reached the critical mass of users. It will not die easily (spez is working hard to achieve this), much less quickly.
People will treat her as a victim, but she had a lot of options.
She could have not had sex, she could have used contraception, had an abortion elsewhere, had an illegal abortion before the fetus could be considered a baby, or simply given it up for adoption using the many resources available to do so. Mothers (unlike fathers, *cough) have a myriad of opportunities to not take responsibility, from start to finish.
She chose the worst way to deal with this, and since this is encompassed in the politics on abortion, people support this horrible act regardless of anything else.
Why do so many people find it so hard to understand the position of anti-abortionists and invent a fantasy about misogynist fascists?
To them fetuses are babies (which is correct at some point before birth, when is another debate) and therefore subjects of rights, so from their position they are defending a much greater right, the right to life. Essentially, from their perspective they are defending human rights, is it that hard for you to empathize with that?
It's undeniable (unless you hate women)
Oh yep, you seem to have a flexible mentality, open to debate and not demonizing others, the opposite of what fascists typically do.
It's probably a waste of time, but okay, I will be kind enough not to delve into your ignorant slander, delusions, straw men and ad hominems.
Since anti-abortionists don't consider women as human beings possessing equal human rights (...) A right to life without right to agency is slavery. Do you understand that anti-abortionists want women to be slaves?
Let us come to the main issue. As I mentioned, this is a difference of importance, not all rights are equal and when there is a conflict one should prevail over the other. Although nothing is written it is easy in some cases, for example, the right not to be tortured is more important than the right to marry.
If for a moment you are able to consider the premise that fetuses are subjects of rights (say one of 42-week to make it easier), tell me, which is more important, the temporary and partial suspension of the right of agency or the right to life?
(I do not include slavery because I find it fucking absurd, as well as a trivialization of something very serious. You could have said something more coherent like reproductive freedom.)
This is not something like seeing the woman as property to be controlled, only considering the rights and interests of "both". Let us also not forget that it is a self-imposed situation, and the cases in which it is "imposed by third parties" abortion is allowed all over the world.
*Sigh. As I guessed, your reading comprehension is nil and you are not capable of debate or simple mental work, you can only use fallacies. Well, at least I tried.
That's not my experience, I don't have kbin in english, but the comments are still automatically set to english. I can't set them to undefined either (*cry in emoji).

Valve quietly not publishing games that contain AI generated content if the submitters can't prove they own the rights to the assets the AI was trained on
Since Greasemonkey is no longer being updated and /kbinStyles has been thriving, with people creating a lot of userscript for added functionality, I thought I should introduce Violentmonkey here. It is a really good opensource alternative for Tampermonkey and works well....
First time, huh? Pay attention on any site, if something doesn't mention the origin of some organization, place or whatever, then it's about murica, even if its name is neutral and common. Same for users, they are all from murica until proven otherwise.
There are two now but there could be many more projects in the future, the little ones often end up ignored. There's not much to do about it other than get used to it... or be the preacher that no one wants to hear.
In those cases it is consistent, but I am speaking to global forums, such as this same instance or any subreddit not specific to a country or language.
