No one should care about a spotify exec. This includes their parents and wife. Everyone who creates audio projects for spotify should be paid. This includes musicians and creators of ambient noise tracks. People like those tracks, they are popular, they should be paid. It’s not a difficult concept. Make a product. Distribute the product. Get paid for the product. You perception of the products relative value compared to other disimilar products in the same file format, is about the least relevant thing in the world. Even if you don’t think the product represents enough “effort” to be considered equal.

Considering the amount of non-copyrightable/public domain material that is bought and sold commercially every day. That’s a pretty funky belief you’ve got there.
You’re right, spotify could release a competing distro, yet they aren’t.
then they should create their own competing distribution. They aren’t actually making any ambient soundscapes. not even white noise, let alone rain, wind, birds, crickets, etc. And what about all those copies of “which side are you one boy” and it’s many covers. you could make the same argument for any traditional music, but you’re not. You only care about “white noise” because you consider it to be low effort. Low effort is not no effort, and the people that put in the effort to create those files should be paid.
people are rarely able to harm the person that harmed them, because the power imbalance is what facilitated the harm to begin with. The axe forgets, the tree remembers. Getting through the multiple layers that insulate the upper class from consequences is an uphill battle and it’s fought on many fronts. most of these fronts you’ll never see because the upper class prefers it that way. It’s a long war with many individual engagements. but this is always the goal.
A little over a decade ago I worked for a company that designed and fabricated stonework for buildings. Not just anyone can clad their house in marble, so I wound up interacting with some very wealthy people. I can’t say who, because they’re still just as wealthy and powerful and I’m about to shit all over them. I came away from the experience with much less respect for them afterwards. They essentially have no interaction with ordinary people at all. They don’t do anything for themselves, and they don’t engage with the real world. It’s no wonder they lack empathy and only act in their own self-interest. The real world is an abstract concept to them, I doubt they think about any of us as being real people.
I was raised dirt poor, like food insecure and periodically unhoused poor. The guy I interacted with was literally a billionaire and had always been a billionaire. His staff treats him like a noble lord, and they buffer him from nearly any circumstance that would lead to him experiencing reality. One perk of being a white guy with good diction and vocabulary is that you can hide your low-class upbringing. Put me in some decent clothes and they’ll assume I’m from a similar background and speak more openly. The conversations were disturbing. The things they said about poor people, my people, were horrible. They think about us like animals if they think about us at all. I had to sit there and smile the whole time.
Even before he became a political figure, he could have had the entire LAPD at his house within moments of the first sign of trouble. It’s not like the french revolution. They have a modern army that is well trained to deal with large groups. They’ve had lots of practice. We can’t just roll up on him with a guillotine in the back of our truck and expect to actually prevail.
My experience at that job radicalized me somewhat and drove from me any lingering desire I might once have had to obtain wealth. I do not want to live in that world. I want to unmake that world.

They’ll sue you into oblivion and they won’t even need a case with merit to drive your little startup into the ground. They’ll just outspend you, not to mention they’ll have consolidated supply lines that you’ll need and that they will not share. The first rule of capitalism is that competition is not to be tolerated.
If someone challenges you to a fist fight, don’t fist fight them. They want you to fist fight them because it gives them advantage. They’ve trained and prepared for fist fights their entire life. You are doing them a favor by fighting them by their rules. You have to fight them on your terms, playing your own game. Whatever your game is, that’s the way you have to face them. harrass, sabotage and disrupt. Failing that, guillotines are a very fun game indeed.

you only need it if you’re buying alcohol or driving a car. your work gets your social but isnt entitled to your ID, which you don’t have to have or carry if you do have it. You can’t even get a bank account without a contract cellphone, so people without ID use prepaid credit cards you buy at the store and load with cash.
ID is expensive and many poor folk don’t have them, so the “problem” is politically powerful groups implementing ID laws to prevent poor folk from voting. If I didn’t have to have a license, I’d never carry an ID.

Everything you said is particularly true in southern states where it disproportionately affects black people, they have the poorest infrastructure, no viable public transport, laws forbidding mail in voting and very limited polling places with that are open for very truncated operating hours.

Lol. I readily accept that america is broken. but cops are the same everywhere. I believe you had some riots about that a while back. The only difference is armaments. An authoritarian is an authoritarian. there were over three hundred police caused deaths in england and wales between 2021 and 2022, not too shabby for such a tiny place. on top of that there were over 1500 cases of police abuse in london just last year, that’s mostly beatings, rapes, and other forms of sexual assault. no matter how you want to splice the numbers the odds of a person experiencing violence or death are higher when a police officer is present. So any situation where you willfully involve law enforcement makes violence more likely. So don’t call them unless you want someone to be hurt or killed. That’s just basic safety.

Been seeing a lot about how the government passes shitty laws, lot of mass shootings and expensive asf health care. I come from a developing nation and we were always told how America is great and whatnot. Are all states is America bad ?
Like I get there are several reasons people remain. It just feels kinda weird to listen to a podcaster or youtuber go off on twittter, yet they still use twitter exclusively.
