Dabundis,

I work at a consulting firm that has the college I went to as a client. I get to bill their asses

Dabundis,

A real cheat code here is when you truly can’t find it in you to cook, have some easy heat and eat meal or something and then plan + prepare tomorrow’s dinner.

Microwave burrito + take chicken out of the freezer for tomorrow

Dabundis,

Another great lazy meal is hummus. process together a drained + rinsed can of chickpeas, a couple tablespoons of tahini, the juice of half a lemon, salt + spices, and however much water it takes to get the texture you like. Smear it on a plate, maybe add a puddle of olive oil with some herbs sprinkled over, and wipe it up with pita.

In no particular order, here are some games that came out this year that have really stuck with me:

Hi-Fi Rush

Zelda: TOTK

Mario Wonder

Dungeons of Aether

Remnant 2

And a bonus shoutout to Warhammer 40k Darktide for getting a ground-up rework to the class system. To anyone who wrote this game off previously, it’s worth another shot.

Dabundis,

Or if you’re in America, the Great British Baking Show (Pilsbury owns the rights to commercial use of the term “bake-off”)

Dabundis,

While i agree that baking recipes are more complex on the whole, you can definitely find baked recipes that are a lot less sensitive to mistakes than others. No-knead breads and galettes come to mind. Certainly not idiot proof, but not quite as unapproachable as it seems.

To be clear, i get that the comment is hyperbolic but i’m replying in the hopes that someone gives baking a try who maybe otherwise wouldn’t

Dabundis,

The reduced airspeed of the shit particles thanks to the closed lid slows the buildup of shit particles on bathroom surfaces enough for my regular cleaning to be sufficient

Dabundis,

If you Rock & Stone, you’re never alone!

Dabundis,

As is the case with every sane driver on the road. All the same, pedestrians are hit by vehicles every day.

With the volume of car travel in the world, it is a statistical certainty that people will make mistakes, be it distraction, complacency, fatigue, whatever the cause. An abundance of these high up, flat-fronted vehicles create a scenario such that WHEN those mistakes DO happen, they’re far more likely to end a life. To suggest that people should just be better drivers is essentially just wishing the problem will solve itself.

Dabundis,

The marketing team called it AI, that means its different !!!

Here's what a random person on the internet thought of The Outer Worlds (lemmy.world)

I played the Steam version of the base game, with no DLC. I did not play the Spacer’s Choice “remaster” as it has a reputation for being broken and poorly put together. I played the game to completion on normal difficulty, completing most of the side quests, spending time with all my companions, and trying to get the most...

Dabundis,

This game has the best asexual representation I’ve ever seen

Dabundis,

I would imagine the curvature of a highway is too tight a turn for a HSR to make safely, if “building rails along highways” was taken literally. I could be wrong though

Dabundis,

Driving time is dead time. Train time is time that can be used for reading, napping, watching something on your phone, whatever

Dabundis,

Not just that, but also the occasional trip that does end up needing a car will be much less annoying with fewer people on the roads

Dabundis,

I witnessed a college kid, while shadowing an engineer, nearly lean on the exposed bus of a 1200A electrical panelboard while it was getting IR scanned. He and the engineer had a little aside about safety after that.

Dabundis,

The panel in question was 480V, 3 phase

Dabundis,

I’ll be “Always-knows-what-that-weird-pain-is Man”

Dabundis,

You can’t change the rules just because you don’t like how I’m doing it

Dabundis,

Different versions of Lilly are such a cool way to put some extra sauce on her ledge and pummel specials. I wonder if the getup special will be another new plant, or if it will be the same as the ledge special

You won't let me leave, you get me at my worst (ttrpg.network)

I don’t even think I will play the ODD after what WotC pulled out, but if I get to comment what I think of their shitty ideas, I will. Seriously, what kind of asshole decided to nerf the game’s weakest class and then make subclass that do everything it can do but better and for one of already strongest classes.

Dabundis,

I’m sure it feels good to “stick it to 'em”, but it’s worth acknowledging that talking about their game on their platform is still traffic on their platform.

Dabundis,

“Zany uberviolent team shooters about bugs” being listed under goblin games was an insult to my dwarven brothers!

Dabundis,

Weird that experimental testing doesn’t fall under fucking around

YSK: You should dry off beef before cooking. Doing so promotes the Maillard Reaction, which will make the meat taste and look better. (www.seriouseats.com)

Why YSK: When you cook meat, any water on the surface must first evaporate before much browning can occur. You want to get as much of a Maillard reaction as possible in the limited cooking time you have before the meat reaches the correct internal temperature. Removing the moisture first means that the heat of the cooking...

Dabundis,

If you don’t have the time (or the foresight) to salt it hours ahead, the next best alternative is to salt RIGHT before cooking. If you salt 10-30 minutes before, osmosis will draw moisture out of the meat, which will then either be wiped away or evaporated. Salting hours ahead of time gives the moisture time to diffuse back into the meat with the salt it dissolved.

Dabundis,

Absolutely. Long dry brine is the preferred method, but if you just remember an hour before it’s rime to cook, it’s better to wait until just before it goes in the pan.

Dabundis,

It’d of course be nice to be rejected directly, and i much prefer it over getting ghosted, but I’m a big boy. I can handle not having things my preferred way all the time.
