Just seeing 2038 is a red flag in my head

9point6,

For the party (and currently government of the UK) “sponsoring” the fake ad, directly murdering homeless people by chopping them in half would be pretty on-brand, they pretty much kill them off indirectly with legislation already and disparage the homeless in the media all the time.

I agree that halving homelessness would be of benefit to everyone, but the Tories don’t particularly care about benefit to anyone apart from themselves and their masters.

9point6,

This is the answer. At least, it’s the only thing I’ve ever heard someone not from the internet call it.

9point6,

I don’t even play Dota, but this warms my heart

9point6,

The point of the cookies being HttpOnly is that it makes them completely inaccessible to client side JavaScript, making a whole load of session hijack/XSS attacks impossible.

The request for a bearer token here circumvents this protection because then there’s a way for a client to avoid cookies all together, making the API vulnerable again.

9point6,

Set one alarm you actually need to wake up for and never snooze.

You’re playing with fire if you set alarms that are okay to snooze, because one day you’re gonna snooze them all

9point6,

I was gonna say, the only way Google and YouTube are listed separately is if this data was collected years ago before YouTube music was a thing

9point6,

zero DMR

Something is giving me red flags here if they can’t get “DRM” right as one of the main features of the product

9point6,

I think we basically just had 2020 with both, which is after the data used in the OP’s chart.

I’m suspecting YouTube on here is just ad revenue for music videos on YouTube rather than anything to do with the YouTube music service.

Edit: I was completely off the mark with the first point, I must have completely ignored YouTube music for the first few years

9point6,

Piped bot do Ur thing

It seems like directly addressing it scares it off

9point6,

It’s peta, so probably not.

9point6,

Everything is loss, you’re just not looking hard enough

9point6,

Wow, that’s kinda a hilarious level of ripping off there

9point6,

Jfc the ads on that page are obnoxious

9point6,

Unfortunately I was browsing away from my pihole at the time

9point6,

I use claw because nothing since the G9x has been big enough to do otherwise

9point6,

Maybe nip that in the bud next year and just continue it through January

I can’t think of a worse month to nearly double your workload from the previous

Why do people hate on mobile games, call them "not real games" and mock them, when some mobile-exclusive games are the best games I've played?

The Infinity Blade or Minigore series, for example, or anything made by Illusion Labs. These games are genius and most consoles don’t even have a touch screen or utilise it well like some smartphone games do....

9point6,

The only reason I can imagine people actually caring enough to look is if you’re playing with sound enabled in a public place, put your headphones on if so. No one wants to hear the sound from someone else’s phone.

I guess the only other thing I can imagine is if you get too into it, maybe? If you’re frantically tapping your screen, that’s gonna draw attention too.

9point6,

I’m playing 2 atm, but it runs like shit on a 3080, I don’t blame anyone for waiting until the performance issues are resolved

9point6,

I’ve not seen a suggestion to tune the graphics, but then I’ve not looked for one, I just went in and set them as I usually would with any game, and then tried a few adjustments to get the frame rate up

Do you happen to have a link?

9point6,

Fair play I’ll give that a go, I’m running ultrawide 1440p which is basically 4k in pixel count, so that might be part of my problem

9point6,

Oh nice one, cheers, there’s a couple of things in there I’ve not tried yet

Appreciate the link

9point6,

New game+

We get to keep our stats from the last play through

9point6,

I love that someone’s still counting.

I wonder how many sales including resale of pre-owned copies.

I’m now wondering what’s the most owners that a copy of ff7 has had

9point6,

I had the opposite experience a few years ago, I am very much a night owl.

I did a job that required me in the office for 7am for a few months, I was noticeably less effective for the whole duration, I was just slower at everything and was basically constantly tired. Switched back to getting in for 9-10am and the difference was night and day, as basically I was back to my old levels of effectiveness after a day or two.

I just think I’m one of these people that cannot adapt, or at least if I do, it comes with a cost.

9point6,

And the UK charts its 2024 course of circling the drain once more.

It’s depressing to think where this country could be if we didn’t keep inflicting economic suicide on ourselves.

9point6,

Photoshop can violate every trademark on the planet, Disney hasn’t slapped Adobe for copyright theft.

9point6,

Maybe it’s different in the states, but Domino’s is ridiculously overpriced for pizza in the UK (yes I know you can always find a voucher), you can get two neapolitan pizzas and change for the price of some of the pizzas on the Domino’s menu.

Not really sure how they’re still afloat over here simply beyond existing momentum

9point6,

Door stuck is modern art and I’ll die on that hill

9point6,

I’m pretty heavily in favour of the Microsoft 365 platform

That’s not a sentence I ever expected to read, I’m curious as to what makes it heavily favourable in your opinion?

I think most of the sentiment I’ve seen towards it before ranges from indifference to apoplectic rage

9point6, (edited )

Depends how important the data is, how long is long term and how budget is budget, but assuming you don’t want to risk losing anything, backup best practice is the 321 rule

3 copies 2 different media 1 off-site

I’d almost always say a cloud provider for your off-site backup, but if you don’t want to do that, it depends how much you want to spend.

There’s no guaranteed do-it-once-and-you’re-done approach here, as all data can degrade. For instance if one of your backup media is hard disks, you’re probably going to want it setup in at least RAID 5 and you want to be on top of swapping out disks when they fail. If you’re thinking of the Blu-ray or tape approach, you’re going to want to periodically check that the media hasn’t degraded. You’ll probably also want to plan to replace the backup media every half decade or so to be extra safe (e.g. BD-Rs have a lifespan of 5-10 years).

9point6,

Eh, do both

Definitely agree with you, but it’s good to make playlists yourself too. I’ve got playlists I made over a decade ago that I go back to every now and again

9point6,

Was this your biggest mistake? Or…?

9point6,

They aren’t useless, but they are pretty broad strokes that will always have a use as long as we’re talking about any de facto two party states (e.g. those with FPTP voting systems).

It’s also worth remembering that the population of one country’s idea of left wing politicians might actually end up being right wing elsewhere (for instance, people in the US saying their democratic party are lefty when in most of Europe they would be considered center-right or just plain right-wing).

9point6,

I’m not really saying what makes them useful, that’s a long list. I was more going for saying they’re not useless, but are potentially pretty ambiguous without additional context due to how people use them.

9point6,

Horseshoe theory is basically regarded as nonsense by anyone that knows about politics.

It’s pretty much only parroted as alt-right propaganda these days

9point6,

It’s not all wrapped up in a complete package and definitely won’t find equivalents for every feature, but there’s some userscripts on !plugins

(Full disclosure, I wrote a simple one to customise the community bar at the top and posted it there)

9point6,

Given we know the idiot that changed the name, I’d say it’s more likely a coincidence than anything that would require some level of intelligence to come up with.

9point6,

Anyone that thinks that Pringles are the pinnacle of flavour are wasting the true potential of their tongues.

Like I’ll eat them, but they’re not even the best version of shaped potato crisps (that would be discos)

9point6,

I think that’s just people in general given how the past decade has unfolded

9point6,

It is, I’ve had one of mine since 2016 and it still works amazingly for anything I’d want from it

9point6,

I had quite a few notifications from it in the UK during the height of the pandemic, though that might be more of an indication of how much our government fucked it up

9point6,

How was this game cheaper than a beer? Best value purchase I’ve made in years

9point6,

This kind of content typically shows up as a blank rectangle on any kind of remote access software

9point6,

I didn’t think zoom had any DRM out of the box tbh, I’ve never had any issue screen recording a meeting on my Mac at least

But yeah any DRM video on the web will use widevine, so will have the same result of the blank rectangle if the DRM doesn’t pass its checks

9point6,

Just because you’re making the same mistake I did for a number of years, frisson doesn’t have a 2nd “i”

9point6,

We use a mix in the UK, I prefer to use 24h when written down though, and my alarm app doesn’t mention am/pm
