The Scottish Traditional Music Archive Directory is now live! 🥳
The directory brings together organisations in and outside Scotland with collections of Scottish traditional music.
Users can identify collection holders, find information on their catalogues, get in touch with them, and compare collections from different organisations.
I always wear hand-knits for big work things - it gives me a wee bit more confidence. So for today's launch of the Scottish Traditional Music Archive I wore my Effervescent jumper by Aimee Sher.
Beaches are places of intertidal liminality. Transient, impermanent and ever changing. To be the first person to walk on the sands as the tide retreats, is to find the world remade.
This is Bracklinn Falls in Callander, #Scotland. We had a lovely half mile stroll through leafy countryside to the bridge across the wooded gorge. It's situated on the course of the Keltie Water, where the river crosses the Highland Boundary Fault, in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.

I'm enjoying #Mastodon at the moment, although I don't have as much spare time as I'd like to devote to it. I hope your timeline is brightened by the images I share. Stay positive and be good to yourselves! And here you are, have this from me - 🤗 - we all need a warm hug sometimes.
The photo is of a sun dog in our back yard this morning.

You're welcome, Phil! I'm happy to learn a little something every day, and sharing a scrap of knowledge is made rewarding when it's appreciated - so thank you!
Standing up for jobs at UHI. The process is a shambles and has been mismanaged from the start. I have strong feelings that my union activism has made me, and others, a target. Regardless, I'm not going quietly.
Anyone with practical tips, legal advice etc, hit me up cos I have no fucking idea what I'm doing!
@jesusmargar@academicsunite@WIASN@academicchatter@ucu it's super-charged incompetence mostly. One of the most senior execs was asked to leave a voluntary role at a small community organisation because they were so incompetent.

“Farewell Miss Julie Logan: A Wintry Tale”, by J.M. Barrie
Written in diary form & telling of an uncanny romance in a remote winter glen, “Farewell Miss Julie Logan” evokes J.M. Barrie’s fascination with longing, death & loss in one of the most unnerving & tenacious examples of #Gothic fiction ever to come from #Scotland

The Pirate Who Stole Scotland: William Dampier and the Creation of the United Kingdom
He was a pirate, a brute and a devious sociopath. But he was also a scientist and a talented writer who gave his readers accurate descriptions of previously unknown places, peoples, plants and animals. He was a daring explorer and an expert navigator who mapped coastlines and logged wind patterns and ocean currents. @bookstodon #books #nonfiction #biography #history #WilliamDampier #Scotland #England
