I #read the alien #romance#book Lisa’s Love by Miranda Martin. This is the 10th & last book in the Red Planet Jungle series in the Dragons of Tajss world. Never fear, there’s a new spin-off in progress already. Another attempt to infiltrate the cult The Order. Another defection. Another love story. Twelfth day of #RomanceAwarenessMonth and it's way past time for me to love on Ruby Dixon and her #Risdaverse series! We meet a variety of FMCs, from shy to strong, dealing with Aliens in these books. Humour and sexy times make this series a firm favourite, but most of Ms Dixon's books are fab TBH.
Happy Friday! Day 11 of #RomanceAwarenessMonth and let’s talk about ALIENS! Have you read “Strange Love” by Ann Aguirre, the first book in the Galactic Love series? The heroine is a human from Earth who is abducted with her dog and the hero is… not human. No spoilers but this is such a delightful romance about two lonely people overcoming so many hurdles to get their HEA.
Instance folks, I'm thinking we should have some kind of helpful message to send to new accounts here. What information would you have found most helpful when you joined?
@pelielios Hmmm. I was thinking more about specifically adjusting to mastodon. An orientation space for the romance genre itself... I don't know if there's just one place. And a lot of it is subjective in any event.
Do you know the @romancelandia group? You can follow them and could direct specific discussion questions there. And you'd probably want to connect with other writers. The #amwriting hashtag is a good one to follow. Add #romancelandia to narrow it to other romance writers.
I wonder if the whole #AI thing will finally convince artists that modern #copyright regime was never meant to protect them.
It was meant to protect the middlemen. The Amazons, the Spotifies, the Sonys, the Disneys. The film studios, the publishing houses.
Now the middlemen figured out they own basically all of art, and that they can just train a computer on that, to replace artists with a piece of software.
And then stop paying artists even the pittance they were being paid so far.
@rysiek If you consider Audiobook Narrators to be artists and audiobooks to be art (I do, honestly, on both counts), then here is a link to my catalogue of high heat audiobooks:
Finished reading #LordOfScoundrels by Loretta Chase and I found it 2.5/5. Just overall meh. I had to slog through the sexy times and some of Chase's wording brought to mind the book was not written in this century, and I was right: 1995. Who knew #Smut had a expiration date? Not sure what prompted me to read this? Probably read somewhere it was a rec since Chase is considered a grand dame of #Romance. Do not think I'll read more of her work.
Yes, people have differing opinions. Yes, we're not all going to like the same books. That's great. But some of the reasons were "read 2 pages; hated it." Have we become so used to the same old shit (20 something creatives with shitty bfs who live in NYC) that something new seems odd? CAN WE NOT EXPAND OUR HORIZONS?? @bookstodon#romancebooks#romancelandia#AmReading
