I #read Claimed by the Barbarian Warlords by Charmaine Ross (#book 1/Stolen Planet). I think it’s great when FMCs assert & fight for their own agency, but the burden of assholery behavior that provokes the fight for independence often rests on the MMC(s) in that plot line. I #read Snowed In With A Dragon by Sara Ivy Hill. This Christmas #book of a sweet stalkerish dragon who waits for his girl until her boyfriend cheats on her is a little red-flaggy if you want your #romance to be perfectly socially acceptable. I #read When She’s Shy by Ruby Dixon (Sept 2023). This short #book from the Risdaverse is a 52 pg F/F delight. Please don’t let that scare you off if you are a straight cis person. This is the first time I know of that Dixon has openly written lgbt main characters, one of which clearly has an anxiety disorder. I #read Lauren’s Barbarian by Ruby Dixon (#book 1/Icehome - an Ice Planet Barbarians spin-off) as an #audiobook. I meant to buy Willa’s Beast so I was surprised when I started listening, but it’s Ruby Dixon, so I couldn’t go wrong! I #read the #audiobook of Unfit To Print by KJ Charles. This lovely Victorian #historicalromance is notable not just for the M/M #romance but because both MCs are POC in late-1800s London. For some reason, this #book hasn’t fared as well as her other #books in ratings - the setting & sub-plot might be uncomfortable for some. Just #read Alien Healer by Sue Mercury (#book 2/Vaxxlian Mates). This short alien #romance novella is a rescue & rehab of a human female. Themes of arranged marriages, forced marriages, pregnancy, etc but no glaring consent issues between MCs (sometimes I struggle with this author over the excessive violence in her books). I’ve just finished #reading Silent Vows by Jill Ramsower (#book 1/The Byrne Brothers). I will definitely be following up on the other #books in this series. Lots of meh on GR but I liked it for the FMC & her attempts to adjust to a different sort of crime family while still traumatized by her father. I’ve #read Rock Hard Gargoyle (#book 1/Possessive Monsters). I’m not a huge fan of #monsters#romance or #bodyguard trope, but this was well-done and quite charming. The MCs live in the world after a long-lasting concealment spell has ended & magics are revealed to the world.
