I Claimed by the Barbarian Warlords by Charmaine Ross ( 1/Stolen Planet). I think it’s great when FMCs assert & fight for their own agency, but the burden of assholery behavior that provokes the fight for independence often rests on the MMC(s) in that plot line. I want to add something to this post about the 2nd in this compilation: When She’s Lonely by Ruby Dixon. The FMC in this story has significant hearing loss that impacts her daily quality of life. If you look for stories of MCs with disabilities, and like or at least accept human-alien & sex, I recommend this. I #read When She’s Shy by Ruby Dixon (Sept 2023). This short #book from the Risdaverse is a 52 pg F/F delight. Please don’t let that scare you off if you are a straight cis person. I have FINALLY finished as Executive Orders by Tom Clancy ( 7, 8, or 9 /Jack Ryan , depending on the source). I had to take a long break to finish this 50hr . Amazing & creepy that this was written pre-9/11 & pre-Covid. I was bored by the political speeches & unethical journalists. Also a bit weirded out that Ryan comes off as more conservative than Reagan was. How can that be so likeable? @bookstodon

#WhatchaReading ? I finished The Culmination of Everything by Christina Jones. (KU) Two grieving main characters, one highly grumpy. (Sensitive readers should check for trigger warnings.) It's got possibly the most non-commital ending I've ever encountered in a romance -- a true HFN -- but it works. I mostly liked it except for one very recurrent author tic.

? I read The Amazing Alpha Tau Boyfriend Project by Lisa Henry, which was very fun, but also made me uncomfortable in a way I find hard to define. I the of Unfit To Print by KJ Charles. This lovely Victorian is notable not just for the M/M but because both MCs are POC in late-1800s London. For some reason, this hasn’t fared as well as her other in ratings - the setting & sub-plot might be uncomfortable for some. But I loved it. # @romancebooks

I’ve via Fire In His Blood by Ruby Dixon ( 1/Fireblood Dragons). This is a post-apocalyptic dragon shifter series, where Earth has been invaded by mad dragons through a portal ripped into the sky. Claudia is forced to try and “tame” one of the dragons. A repeat for me, & I think better than IPB.
