Which Novel Matches Your Light Academia Era? Travel Around England To Find Out

(Based on my choices, it said I should read which works for me because it’s my favorite Austen novel!)

@forpeterssake @bookstodon I kept in mind that it's a novel Austen didn't finish so S1 was not going to be as Austen-esque as I wanted. BUT, taking Austen out of the picture, and thinking of it as just a period piece, I really enjoyed it!

A PhD student at the U of Kansas is doing research on "The Darcy Dilemma" which asks the question: what version of Darcy do you like better: Firth or MacFayden AND why did you choose that particular Darcy. You can find the research survey here: https://forms.gle/JpBDswCqy5EzyeMc7

@whatzaname @bookstodon At this point, the “newest" movie is from 2018. Do I really need mark spoilers for movies that are average 30 years old? No.

@ukaunz @bookstodon It's a shame that most “to be read" lists contain western authors, primarily US and UK.

ExcessivelyDiverting,
@ExcessivelyDiverting@romancelandia.club avatar

@BillySmith @ukaunz @bookstodon I'd rephrase that to “mostly" English. I have people post in German and Italian in my feed (that I catch; probably other languages as well). And I would also say, “do not always have great literacy" as if we don't speak a second language, translations are available. Clarice Lispector (Brazilian Portuguese) is one. Italo Calvino and Umberto Eco (both Italian), and Chinua Achebe (Nigerian) are others. Don't make absolutes.

@willaful @bookstodon Dang. How much egg on my face for an Austen/Bronte account to not know the name of the books of the Bronte sister!
