One day after launching Vivaldi on iOS, Vivaldi is the top iPad app in Norway and #5 on iPhones. Not a bad start at all. We are on the list in many other countries as well.
Make sure to share the great news with all your friends! @Vivaldi is now available!
When you say "go to the doctor" to an Autistic person, you won't necessarily realise what a difficult position they are placed in.
So often we are told that if our problems were "that bad" we would see a doctor.
The truth is that healthcare is inaccessible to many Autistic people for a vast array of reasons. From ableism through to doctors who think studies on the general population should inform the treatment of minority bodies.
Apple doesn’t have groundbreaking features to entice people to buy their new products. Instead, it wants to convince you that if you buy an iPhone or Apple Watch, it could literally save your life and will mitigate your environmental footprint while it’s at it.
But those are pretty dubious claims that rely on carbon offsets and dismiss all the harm and suffering that’s been chronicled in Apple’s supply chain. Don’t buy the PR!
Reminder that Apple uses a technology literally invented in 1984 to brainwash their users into thinking anyone using a non-Apple device is poor.
This lie is rampant and reinforced by the billionaire CEO of Apple, the richest company to ever exist.
Apple intentionally makes their devices bad at communicating with other devices because it means kids without Apple devices might get bullied into giving Apple more money. Apple knows this, and plays into it.
I miss the 3D Touch feature on iPhone. A lot of users weren’t even aware it existed, but it was great. It essentially served the purpose of a “right-click” for a touchscreen.
Haptic Touch (Apple’s fancy term for long-pressing) just isn’t the same & is slower to respond.
Will it be possible to use the #Apple Vision Pro if you use an Android phone? Or will you also need to own an #iPhone for it to work good, as it is with an Apple Watch? #AppleVisionPro
@paul I recently switched from an #Apple#iPhone 8 Plus with #iOS 16 to a #Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro+ now with #Android 13 and I must say: It is good. Not great. Because #Google and all the manufacturers still have not the same attention to detail that Apple has.
But everything else is really good.
I switched most of my apps too.
Android must become better for people with handicaps like me (shortsighted). Here the gap is bigger.
#Google camera app is still missing here. Thats one minus though
Wild how we’re having conversations like “Android vs iPhone” or “Apple Maps vs Google Maps” in 2023. I thought this was settled ages ago.
Get what works for you. But for me personally, I’ll never choose a platform whose entire existence is predicated on collecting every ounce of user data it can ascertain. Android and Google Maps both suffer from the same problems: too busy, too impersonal, and too desperate.
I’m happy with my iPhone because it’s just me. I can make it become whatever phone I need in the moment thanks to Focus Modes controlling my Lock Screen and Home Screen. The apps and services I take advantage of show the relevant information I need based on that Focus. And let’s not even start on how polished Apple’s widget system is compared to Android.
I’ll happily argue iPhone and iOS is more personal, more customizable, and more private and secure than Android.
But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy an Android phone if you want one. 🤷♂️
If you own an iPhone and care to share photos with anyone, go ahead and switch off of the lamentably default HEIC image format back to JPEG, in the settings.
The https://kbin.social server is now federating with the Fediverse. You can follow/interact with kbin.social magazines & users from other Kbin servers, Mastodon & rest of the Fediverse. For example the TIL magazine is at @TodayILearned, the lead dev of Kbin is at @ernest
There's a new Kbin server at https://readit.buzz which is run by the same people as the Universodon.com Mastodon server. It's open for signups, just click "log in" and then "register".
p.p.s. Several people asking in the thread about how to appear on the microblogging sections of Kbin magazines.
As far as I can tell, just include one of the magazine's listed tags in your posts on Mastodon etc. For example to appear on the Apple magazine's microblogging section include #apple or #iphone or one of the other tags as shown at on the right side of the screen at https://kbin.social/m/apple
Microblogging is a separate tab from Threads, you need a Kbin account to start a new thread.
