@JoelBarr@Lsquare28@bookstodon I read the Foundation and Empire quartet when I was about 12. Loved them. Read them for what they are, not as a possible reality.
The #Kindle edition of "Shards" is now available for #free on Amazon's various international storefronts. This will be the case until October 4th, so get while the getting's good.
@markdevries@bookstodon@horror@scifi Sadly, I haven't had much luck publishing eBooks anywhere else. My first two novels for example were available on other platforms such as Apple Books and Google Play for years but never sold enough to justify keeping them there when compared to being Amazon exclusive via Kindle Unlimited. Fortunately, things aren't quite so locked down on the print side of things, at least for paperbacks, and those can now often be found in (or ordered by) various places.
You know you have a really good book in your hands when: 1) You are tempted to ignore deadlines and just spend the entire day reading but also 2) you don't want to the book to end.
@luthien1126@bookstodon Do you know that when Amazon puts books on sale they are stealing from the author? Authors get no say when there books will be listed as on sale. Amazon still get their cut but the author misses out.
Deciding on which among these three books by #BIPOC authors I should read next (these are from my Big Bad Wolf haul last June). Leaning towards Arudpragasam's novel set in Sril Lanka.
As a heads up to my #readers, I'd highly recommend catching up on any of my first six #books that you might have missed by the end of this year. My 7th, while still a standalone, is very much tied to everything that's come before it and will likely hit a lot harder for you if you're at least somewhat familiar with one or more of my previous works. #readingcommunity
@michaelshotter@bookstodon "Red, White & Royal Blue" by Casey McQuiston is a romantic novel. Find out how two friends were forced to fake a friendship for political reasons, but their feelings deepened into a secret romance that challenges their lives and the world's perception. https://bit.ly/445UfVI
Thinking of queueing this up for my next non-fic read. Or maybe I should first finish the ultra challenging "Designing Organisations"? Or perhaps read both concurrently? 😂
Aren’t they awesome?
My son was going to make one but decided to buy one already assembled. It has the tactile feel of the old computer keyboards instead of the newer ones. He loves it, even though there was a minor error in assembly.
Books make the world better.
This week I'll be posting about some of my favorite books YA, their covers and their fabulous opening lines.
“The island of Gont, a single mountain that lifts its peak a mile above the storm-racked Northeast Sea, is a land famous for wizards”
-A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin
@franciscawrites@bookstodon
For what it's worth, "A Wizard of Earthsea" was the very first book sold from the spilled/loose items I recently rescued from my wrecked storage shed. I'll have to find a personal copy and give it a whirl.
@tffmh@bookstodon Same for me. The Earthsea series made me the huge fan of fantasy I am today and I like to cite it as one of the reasons I became a writer.
last week I learned friday afternoons are a great day for bookstore browsing because so few people are there, making it safer for covid cautious shorties like myself
I just got the cover art for THE WAGES OF SIN, which is coming out in October. I like it!I think the blighted roses work very well as a metaphor for a world where HIV has, mm, screwed everything up. @bookstodon#BooksOfMastodon#books
