@Lsquare28 @bookstodon I'm reading Foundation and Empire right now after reading the first book twice just to get my head around it. I'm also in season two of the TV show, which really didn't seem to have much in common with the books except for the names. It's all very engaging and thought- provoking, but now that I'm older, I challenge some of Asimov's premises, especially that one man would develop a branch of science that no one else could even understand for 3,000 years.

@JoelBarr @Lsquare28 @bookstodon I read the Foundation and Empire quartet when I was about 12. Loved them. Read them for what they are, not as a possible reality.

For those who haven't started, think it's best to read them in 'purist' order - the order of publication. The original trilogy 1951-53 jumps around quite a lot in time - TBH - I thought Prelude was very much an afterthought definitely not ****.

@suelli @bookstodon Thanks, I agree. I Actually read Foundation and F&E years ago, but for reasons I don’t remember, stopped. Last year, I restarted the series at Foundation, and have now read everything except the two “prequels.” Figured I might as well check them out.

1st Trilogy read was one of those couldn't put it down moments. Read them again during lockdown. I think Asimov is an amazing mystery writer with complicated plots that span centuries and philosophies. The TV series seemed more time-bound and character-driven

@suelli @bookstodon Yeah, I remember starting the original trilogy decades ago, and really enjoying it. But for reasons lost over the passage of time, I stopped during the Mule storyline, and never went back. Fast forward to last year, when I restarted at Foundation, and read the trilogy plus the two sequels. I watched the first season of the TV series, and my reaction was “meh.” Not bad, but not special.
