In many ways, Mastodon feels like rewinding the clock on social media back to the early days of Twitter and Facebook. On the consume side, that means that your home feed has no algorithm (this can be disorienting at first)....
Hashtags are the only way. You can follow mass hashtags though, which is nice. So if you want to know everything about a certain topic you would put in #favoritetopic and then push the follow sign for that topic. I have #seattle and #trails for example. Not every app lets you do this though but I know FOSS Tusky does and last I checked the official Mastodon does not.
Postcard from today's very long urban hike in #Seattle. Standing on the Fremont bridge, looking east toward Lake Union and under the Aurora highway 99 bridge.
Apparently no true Seattleite (at least those I know) will admit to going to the top of the Space Needle by choice, in the same way that no true New Yorker will admit to visiting Times Square by their own volition.
Instead, the smart move is to go up a different building and look at the Space Needle.
The Place Where Nothing Will Grow gets more attempts at a few kinds of moss (some planted properly, some transplanted with mild care, some frankly just tossed to see what happens) since the ferns are doing fine and the first moss attempts are actually spreading a little.
#Seattle metro area has some of the worst drivers ever. There I said it. Not always the fault of drivers. Lane design, signage visibility...and some crazy drivers out there. All a part of the problem. I've driven in NY, CA, Japan and the Middle East. So it's not nothing. #driving
