The 5 is here and like its predecessor it supports decoding and displaying H.265 in 4K@60fps.
Some of you may wonder: does that really work on a modern / desktop? If my laptop fan starts spinning when playing such content, how can the PI handle it?

Here I'd like to draw your attention to a pretty cool feature we just introduced in - support for YCbCr or YUV pixel formats in the system compositor (Mutter).

Chiming in to say is what resolved this issue for me. I had to switch from Linux Mint Cinnamon to + and I'm much happier with my setup now.

daredevil, (edited ) to linux in What are some things you wish you had known when switching to Linux?

Though I enjoy and am currently using , I wish I learned about sooner. I didn't understand why game performance felt so off with my dual monitor setup for several months. I have since dabbled with an DE for some gaming, and Wayland support has alleviated those problems. However, I plan to look into other options when I've organized my data a bit more and establish proper backups. Learning , , , and tweaking were also useful for making my workflow into what it is. Also, I wish I knew how bad and support would be. Despite getting used to their applications, the absence of feature parity is immensely disappointing.

It's time for another and news video!

In this one, we have some nasty flaws in AMD and Intel CPUs that require performance-reducing mitigation patches (potentially brutal for Intel especially).

We also have some nice features for Plasma 6 and 45, and an alliance between SUSE and Oracle to offer RHEL source code to the community:

Back on @fedora 38. Debian was pretty solid, but I like access to the latest apps. Specifically the latest version of Firefox, which performs much better.
