So far, the information available on the Steam Deck screws has been sparse, while many people attempting to modify or maintain the Steam Deck noted their fragile nature. So during my recent opening of the Steam Deck, I decided to collect some technical information on screws that are otherwise not written down anywhere....

I have only used mint, pop, and nobara on my pc,I tried vanilla but didnt like it, Is there any good ubuntu based distro thats easy to use? I can use the terminal fine,I also want gnome 44
I mean, if you don't like Ubuntu much and you can also use the terminal, maybe try out Debian? Packages are a little dated but if you are willing to live with it, it's a great experience. I have some unstable repos added to my install for newer packages, and its been a good experience with 0 issues so far. I mainly use the GUI and its also been easy to use and super stable, although I suppose Pop and Mint would still be easier.
It's not exactly Ubuntu based, but its worth a shot.
Interesting to hear such things discussed at that level. Turning it off is suggested to get rid of compromised background processes that might be spying on users. Obviously, this only help against malware that isn't permanently installed on a phone.
That was my initial reaction too, but I believe there is also a good amount of attacks that use 0-day exploits and might not have an angle for permanence yet.
There's actually a 0-day exploit affecting safari on every single apple device right now, and not a gentle one. There is a fix, but you have to update iOS to get it.
Also a MAJOR 0-day affecting teams, but the exploit is exploiting core app functionality so Microsoft don't want to fix it.
This is a docker setup, so to update all I did was change the lemmy-ui and lemmy versions in docker-compose.yml. Note: downgrading to 0.17.4 results in an API error instead, and still a broken site, so downgrading does not appear to be an option....
Why: Save money and headache, not just on software or services, but on your tax bill. Software and preparation services won’t necessarily teach you about deductions or credits that you can get, saving you money....
I sometimes lose typed text due to form issues, accidental edits/deletions, etc. and am really interested in any running keylogger for Android phones. Thanks for any help or ideas!...
you question looks like Hilary's aid asking "How do i permanently delete emails from a hard drive", so is sus on it's own and i have 0% trust that you have a valid use case for this
literally every use case you have or could mention is solved in a better way. Pursuing the avenue you are currently on is a security vulnerability. It's like asking a lockmaking group "Hey, how can i have my keys copied automatically so i don't ever forget them again? And have them printed to a shelf right next to the front door"
So even if you are being genuine, any sense of a duty of care to an internet stranger compels me to tell you to not do this
I don't see what there is to gain from this, I don't want mega-corporation in my social media anymore. especially not after what has been happening to their platforms. if their users want to join the fediverse, the account creation process is always open as long as they can follow the rules!
And of course there's always the fact that their end goal will not be good for any of us, no matter what it is there is a 0% chance our interests align
Personally, I prefer Lemmy over Kbin because I hate karma and reputation points. I do not want to worry about downvotes, and Lemmy feels so fresh. I can post things that will receive lots of downvotes and not need to worry about losing karma.
It is weird that we vote like that. I find myself bringing a lot of good faith comments back up from 0 not because I agree with it, but because I think it is a comment worth 1 upvote lol
Personally, I'm not planning on using the Meta service, but I'm not a fan of pre-emptive defederation either. The vast majority of P92 users will have 0 clue what federation/activitypub is, let alone actually log into Lemmy, Mastodon, Kbin, etc. For them, they will forever think of themselves as @username, not @username.
I'm totally fine with Meta releasing an app who's posts are exposed via ActivityPub, along with being able to consume other posts via ActivityPub. If anything, I would like to think it'll drive more people off the Meta platform and into Mastodon, as moving to a federated app doesn't mean they have to completely break connections with their network on-platform with Meta.
Overall, I'm more in favour of allowing a personal user to choose to defederate from specific instances, because regardless of what happens, if Meta joins, there will be other companies getting on the bandwagon, and endlessly splitting up based of which instances federate with which others will eventually lead to the whole damn thing falling apart and the big players becoming the de-jure instances anyways.
I mean, the vast majority of Lemmy/Kbin users migrated from Reddit, as did the vast majority of Mastodon users from Twitter. I'm fine with keeping things open to help facilitate more user growth to community run instances, while also having a place for the less tech-savvy to get their feet wet.
The vast majority of P92 users will have 0 clue what federation/activitypub is, let alone actually log into Lemmy, Mastodon, Kbin, etc. For them, they will forever think of themselves as @username, not @[email protected].

8oz of skinless breast has 250 calories, 0 carbs, and >50g of protein. That's really nutritious and healthy in my book.
That's very similar to something like lentils, and a lot better than something like rice which other people are saying but is essentially empty calories with barely any nutritional value.
Ha, I was not expecting anyone to be that interested in it! I’ve checked my Google Play console and it turns out I unpublished it a while ago to stop new downloads.
The app was called “Gaffer for Giffgaff”. For those of you who aren’t from the United Kingdom, “Giffgaff” is a mobile phone network over here.
Back when I made this app, the network had a real problem with onboarding. The APN settings weren’t included on new Android handsets by default as of yet (which they are today) and most new users would have to type them in manually. There were apps that input these settings before I started developing mine, but these were not very user friendly even by 2011 standards! In later revisions of the app, I even paid £100 to have a professional voice actor record some lines to guide users through the setup process which I uploaded here: m.soundcloud.com/…/gaffer-for-giffgaff-apn-setup (I don’t know why I thought uploading this to SoundCloud at the time was something to do. Guess I was just proud of it?)
As well as onboarding, the network had issues with reliability. My app included push notifications so that the user could connect to WiFi and quickly figure out if the Giffgaff network was down or if their phone was not working properly. At first I started sending these notifications myself but after my app gained some attention, the Giffgaff forum moderators began sending the notifications themselves (although I seem to remember that I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone about this at the time).
These days, features like push notifications aren’t considered to be that fancy. When I was making this app, though, it was a pretty big deal. I was sending notifications at scale and doing it on basically 0 budget, as an individual.
Anyway, enough background information. I’ve gone through the app and taken some screenshots. I’ve also included the .APK file however I would recommend that you don’t install this (I am, after all, just some guy on the internet and not a trustworthy source) - but it’s there in case you feel adventurous.

As someone from Upper Michigan, that does not sound bearable to me.
Then again, 0 degrees with -15 windchill probably sounds more bearable to me than to you.
Idk if I can do a good job, but for me, 10-20 degrees is average winter temp. Nothing to be concerned about: just my winter coat and thin gloves.
0-10 degrees is starting to get cool. If I’m outside for a prolonged period of time I’ll add a hat and switch to my thicker gloves.
-10-0 degrees is cold. That’s the period where breathing through your nose gets crispy and deep breaths make you cough. I always have a hat and good gloves at this range. If I need to be outside for a while, I use flannel lined jeans. I also make sure to use my actual winter boots.
-20 to -10 degrees is rare, but does happen. You really shouldn’t be outside at those temps, but I’ve done it anyway. Any breeze at that temperature is dangerous. A facemask of some kind is strongly recommended if you need to be out for any length of time.
Coldest I’ve personally experienced was -25 degrees. That was winter 2013-14. There’s nothing quite like experiencing that level of cold. I left a university building to go to my jeep with a bottle of powerade in my backpack. When I got to my jeep it had turned into a slushie.
All these temps are absolute by the way; not windchill.
