ChicoSuave,

Is that one plant with lighter leaf colors the one that had trapped roots?

schmidtster,

That one top in particular I supercropped and snapped it, so it took some leaf nutrients to rebuild the pathways.

But I don’t think I’ve had trapped roots? It may have gotten a new issue in the last week, it’s fallen over and the basket holding it to the lid is half punched through. So the roots under have shifted and probably broke some, which may be what the other yellowing is.

I have not been kind to these ladies this run…

Edit, oh shit you mean my potted plants, no these are in my aeroponics system sorry.

  • schmidtster,

Had airflow issues due to lack of fan.

But that’s completely not true on the leaves. After 21 days a leaf no longer takes nutrients from the plant and only provides energy. Cutting it off before 21 days only wastes all of the resources it put into growing the leaf.

That’s a long winded way to say, only remove leafs for a specific reason, like covering a bud with weaker lighting.

  • schmidtster,

I’ve looked at side by side studies and that’s all “bro science”

Yes it can help, if you have a specific reasons for removing them, the article covers a bit of them. But that’s far from scientific. They don’t take nutrients or energy from the plant. If you’re removing foliage for that reason you’re harming your overall quality and yield.

    Melatonin,

Perhaps a stupid question, but how do you know it needs another week? That looks pretty buddy to me.

    prettybunnys,

You check the trichones under magnification, the buds will vary based on “age” but there is some “science” to how the trichones look vs how the plant will make you feel.

Then harvest based on your preference there.

it’s possible the art of growing has moved significantly since my last foray but that’s what we did when I did, used a jewelers loupe to peep them.

    schmidtster,

That’s still pretty much it, not much new research wise to show anything different. Amber for couchlock and milky for creative head high.

The interesting thing I’ve seen that goes against the norm, is with testing being more prevalent some people are getting results that lower “popcorn” buds are testing higher in THC than the colas. Doesn’t mean much with the terpenes and cannabinoids though.

    schmidtster,

It’s a strain I’ve grown before and taken it to 10 weeks.

It’s entirely personal preference though depending on the trichome development. If you want a headier high you harvest when they are mainly milky and if you want a couch lock high you harvest when the trichomes are around 20% amber.
