🦝 "So you got bonked in the face with a football eh, what game were you playing"
🦄 "The hit-each-other-in-the-face-with-a-football game."
🦝 "Cool, where was the teacher while you lot were playing the hit-each-other-in-the-face-with-a-football game."
🦄 "Watching and calling it dodgeball."
🦝 "So dodgeball is a real thing that real kids really play huh."
🦄 "I guess."
@ifixcoinops Dodgeball was a staple of my 1980s elementary school "PE" program.
The way we did it was last-man-standing. Divide the class into two halves, and set each one up on one side of the gym (you couldn't cross the dividing line). Then hurl like six balls into the mix and everything descended into utter chaos as the kids went feral and started hucking the balls at whoever they felt like. With so many of them flying, you'd get nailed with one out of nowhere, or hit from behind by a stray or one that just missed and bounced back off the opposite wall.
And these weren't foam or something innocuous like that, oh no, we're talking the 8.5 inch air-filled heavy rubber playground balls.
