And it will be worse. Next week all my cupboard doors in the kitchen will be picked up for painting. I’ve more or less decided on color - lightest olive green/grey.
Gratefully my youngest son visited over last weekend to cheer my up so I had some help moving things. The desk is now upstairs. And he managed to move down and sort all paint in the basement (his first suggestion was to keep it in the garage which only shows that I’ve passed 0 knowledge on to my kids…) #sarassummer23 @gardening

@cloudguy Is the author suggesting that the "virtual Town Square," a moniker we often ascribe to Twitter, is actually not a happy place where contented people congregate to talk about bicycles and eat sandwiches? Because if so, a) that's my kind of crowd, and b) I kinda agree with the author.
@cloudguy just a reminder that the "town square" went from being globally for everyone, to well the people who pay can go in the town hall, and will rarely hear from the people who are outside in the square. To now well we are thinking about fencing the town square and only letting you in to it if you pay us. That will ALWAYS be the problem with a company looking for profits when they talk about these digital town squares.

@GregDance@bojacobs@histodons@sts I think you are misreading MAD. MAD virtually guaranteed small wars on the edge of the empires. The problem with MAD is that it is only stable with two nuclear powers. As Putin has learned, nuclear threats are not meaningful in a war like Ukraine except to keep NATO infantry out.
It is incredibly frustrating that the only thing more stupid than Patreon is all the alleged Patreon substitutes that clearly don't even understand what Patreon does.
Pro tip: Patreon has no meaningful competitors, and also it sucks, so there's a huge opportunity for somebody to kick sand in its face and take its lunch money. But to do that you would have to understand what actually Patreon does that is worth it to creators to allow Patreon to take 5% of their proceeds (and then pass on to them a second 5% in payment processing fees).
@jerry Easiest way to see engagement here is to engage, I.e. respond to other peoples stuff, rather than post stuff and expect people to respond to it, especially if your follower count is low. I understand why this individual feels this way, but I learned that engagement here just works differently than a place like Reddit. Respond to people to create organic conversation, be genuine, use hashtags, put effort in for a few months not days or weeks, creating a network here requires some investment but pays off imo. Some people want more native functionality to boost engagement in their social platform and as it stands now, Mastodon doesn’t provide this, so getting started requires a bit of effort to get momentum. It’s not for everyone. I’ve posted (what I felt to be) really interesting things or questions to no response. Other times, I get lots of feedback. Sometimes just random based on the day. Hopefully more people come to appreciate this and give Mastodon more time to grow on them moving forward.

@islieb ich war gestern nicht online. Ich mache ein wenig App Icon Zeug und habe ein Minecraft Resource Pack. Kein komplettes pack, ich mache eher eigene Tweaks.
Meine App geht sehr schleppend voran, ich komme mit der Datenbank einfach nicht voran. Aber auf das Icon bin ich sehr stolz!
YouTube versuche ich auch so langsam. Ich weiß nur nicht genau, welche Richtung es werden soll.
