I was gone for an hour last night, and when I got back, my feed was half beans. What gives?

I don’t use TikTok at all, but I do watch compilation videos on YouTube sometimes. Lately there are some clips of livestreams of people doing really repetitive movements and phrases. What’s up with that?

I’ve seen headlines about actors/actresses protesting about stuff. The same goes for other creative talent in the entertainment industry. What’s going on there? What are their demands? What fueled these protests all of a sudden?

The only tweet I could find in articles was something like the owner telling people the real reason why he can’t play. The article said it had since been deleted.

What did they change?

I keep seeing it on my random feed suggestions and this is using NewPipe, so it has nothing to do with my actual YouTube activity (I think. Nothing there is stuff I’m interested in, with very few exceptions). So I’ve ignored it first, then I watched like two and was super confused. Wtf. These videos have millions of views...

Since yesterday the FMHY instance, lemmy.fmhy.ml, is seemingly offline. My main account is registered there amd I haven’t been able to access it all day....

I have heard the usual “commie” bullshit and that they deny Uyghur genocide / stalin’s crimes etc. I don’t have a negative opinion of them, in fact they are one of the most kind and emphatic people on lemmy so I wanted a bit of background. Thanks!

I’ve noticed a lot of posts that have the word “rule” added to it even when it doesn’t seem to make sense. Sometimes I’ve even seen titles with only the word “rule”. Anyone know what it’s about?

Why is everyone talking about some married couple traveling around upset about money? How does race factor into it? One of them is named Harry right? Did they have to change the rules about who gets to be queen because of this?

I keep running into comments where users are arguing for avoiding Lemmy, claiming that Lemmy supports authoritarian governments, supports the CCP, sides with Russia in their invasion of Ukraine, denies genocides committed by nominal communist governments, and other similar political claims. I know there are communist instances...

Why the obsession with beans on shipost communities? What’s the origin of the bean meme?

I heard Beehaw defederated from Lemmy.world among others, but recently I have been seeing content from beehaw communities and users. Did they re-federate? If so, why? And if not, why am seeing updates from their servers again?

I vaguely recall reading that they expressed support for trans people and now conservatives are boycotting....
