Whats sad is I don't feel any movies since have wowed me the way fellowship and then the trilogy did. including the hobbit. I want something that amazing again.
Yeah, for me LOTR holds a special place because it’s something I very vividly remember watching as a kid, so I don’t think any other movie would compare.
That said, my very first exposure to LOTR movie was actually a humorous dubbed version which completely twisted all the characters. I only later discovered that it was not, in fact, the real LOTR. Imagine my surprise
I understand that we’re talking LOTR memes, here, but I found a site called Quote Investigator, where they take famous quotes, like the things Ghandi apparently said, or Einstein, or whoever, and they run the quote down, and find the original, they find out if Einstein ever actually said that.
My dude.
Once they run the quote all the way to ground, it turns out Einstein never said it. The original quote was nothing like that, and the person who said it was a guy named something like Bill Ackerman at the Regional Banking Convention somewhere in 1963, where Bill gave a speech. The speech got printed out in Regional Banking Magazine, which is how the quote started to circulate.
His actual quote had a lot more words than the one you know.
So, over time, they decided to massage the quote so that it got shorter, pithier, and would fit on a bumper sticker while they passed it around and around.
Ol’ Bill was clever enough, but his name didn’t have enough clout, so they kinda slide him under the rug. Instead, this seems like something Gandi would say, so maybe let’s just pretend Gandi said it. Next thing you know, the quote is a completely different sentence with a brand-new author who has no idea the world is attributing Bill’s words to them. It helps if the new author is dead, so they can’t pop up like,“Yo, I never said this shit.”
And eventually it ends up posted on Facebook in some janky font with a purple background. Or worse, hanging on a piece of wood in Hobby Lobby.
That’s nearly every famous quote you’ve ever come across. Over and over and over. It kept Quote Investigator busy for a while. At best, the original speaker did say it, but they took a machete to the original sentence until it was meme length.
Pretty crazy. So you are partaking in a grand old tradition. Carry on, I guess.

He's one of the only reason why Rivendell hasn't fallen yet. His ring brings power to his 'kingdom' just like Galadriel protects Lothlórien with her ring.
Also, the whole fucking point of Frodo taking the ring is that he is inconspicuous. Sauron would notice if another ringbearer had it. Gandalf doesn’t even want to hold it.
Also, Elrond helps organize the party, making the men, elves, and dwarves work together to help the hobbits. Without his influence, the men would have wanted to take the ring for themselves and Legolas would not have worked with Gimli. He and Gandalf basically tell everyone to shut up and work together.

I got that a while back talking about old video games. “Eww you played DOS games? What a boomer”
No, no that makes me mad. I was learning to navigate the DOS shell to set up Duke Nukem (skills I still use at my job today) while my boomer parents yelled at me to stop wasting my life on the computer and come in the living room to watch another six hours of Bonanza reruns.
It also means more people will actually use it, so its kind of a double edged sword I guess; but its heartbreaking seeing a generation that is supposed to be tech savvy only be able to understand social media ui and the settings app on their iPad.
I like to think back to when I was a young lad, making fun of old people. The ones who got angry reinforced my naïve perspectives, and the ones who took it in stride with humility taught me to not be so judgemental.
It’s hard, but we millennials have to exemplify humility for the younger generations, even though we didn’t have many role models ourselves.
The way I see it: if someone dismisses valid concerns, I'm going to give their opinion less weight; if they do it with hasty generalizations, I'm going to give it zero weight and maybe mock them for being incompetent.
