I finished my Lughnasadh teapot this week! Just in time for Lughnasadh (Aug 1) too. I’m planning to watch Meryl Streep’s Dancing in Lughnasa this weekend to celebrate.
Thats really cool. I havent played the game in years but it still takes me back to when I was 12 or 13 playing on a rented cartridge trying to beat it before it was due back at the video store. It was my first Zelda Game. Imagine my surprise when i beat the agamanam guy or whatever his name was and then had another 5 dungeons thrown at me.
Sorry. I was about to for english but I lacked word for sewing. And when I saw the instance was bilingual, I assume the community was bilingual as well.
I decided to try another blackwork pattern! I found a bunch of tarot card patterns over at circlecross.net so I will be working on that for a while. I managed to get most of the border done so far!
This is super cool! I’ve been playing this game that has some really pretty tarot cards and I was thinking about maybe embroidering some, but the blackwork really works for this.
Thanks! I’ve been working on it here and there throughout the day and I’m thinking I may start over and do single strand instead. The double strand looks good on the borders but now that I’m stitching the figure it’s starting to look too cartoony
You could always leave the border as is and switch for the figure. What you have here looks great, and there’s nothing wrong with different strands for different parts of the design, I don’t think.
Since I posted the picture I’ve already done a lot of the main figure with two strands, so for now I’m going to keep it going and see if it looks better once I fill in more details. I think I may start a second one with two strands just on the borders and see which one looks better
Thank you! I’m working with about 45 colors and 15 blends! Got a good session done today so now I just have back stitch left. Hoping to finish this weekend and I’ll be sure to post the result.
Looks great! The single strand was definitely a good call. I bought these patterns a while back as well and this is definitely helping me finally think about starting them!
As challenging as this one has been it’s also a lot of fun! I want to make more of them but I may pick one of the less chaotic patterns for the next one lol!
On my first attempt the double strand looked amazing for all the big borders but all the little details in between kind of got swallowed up and lost, and when I started stitching the main figure with double strand, he just kind of looked like a cartoon supervillain lol
I don’t know about doing a whole set, but I am definitely going to make more of them! I picked patterns for Chaos, The Devil, and The Fool to work on next!
My immediate instinct is to start working on all of them at once, but I think it’s better if I just finish this one first lol
