Congrats on the v1 launch! Signed up last night, I’ll be giving it a thorough investigate today.
One thing I did immediately notice though is that some of your supported patterns aren’t actually available, the first one I clicked on was “Wreath of Leaves” and it leads to a dead end on Etsy. That could potentially be a really big issue if you’re hoping to grow the pattern catalogue and get other designers on board, trying to maintain active links for everything would be a moderation nightmare. Just something to think about if you haven’t already.
We had a very similar situation with !knitting a while back and long story short I took over there and have been doing my best.
IF nobody else steps up, I’d be ok doing it here too. But I am begging the other regulars to consider volunteering instead, I have no aspirations to become some sort of crafting community powermod 😅
Or maybe two or three of us could take it on together and cover each others backs, safe in the knowledge that we’ve got timezones covered for spam incidents (which are the only kind of incidents I’ve seen in here, crafters are generally pretty un-dramatic). That way it’s not on any one person and nobody needs to stress.
I have appointed you as the new moderator. Thanks!
I agree that it would be great for others to pitch in, too. If anyone else volunteers, I am happy to give them mod rights, too. You can also do it yourself now.
Feel free to unpin or delete this post whenever you think it has been up long enough.
Look, I am considering it. I have some serious issues with Lemmy lately, especially after the new update that broke jerboa for me. Even after updating the app it still barely works. Rest of the apps seem to make my phone freeze for whatever reason. I’ll try sorting that out and consider volunteering!
Appreciate you considering it! There’s definitely a lot of issues with 0.19, it took me about three tries to open this post today because lemm.ee has been struggling. But pretty much every big update has been the same so if it follows the pattern, in a few days they’ll sort out the urgent performance issues and we can all get back to normal 🤞
Apparently me even voicing the tentative willingness to be the emergency backup plan was enough and I am now mod, so I’ll give it a few days and see if anyone else fancies it but given my experience with the knitting community I can confirm that it’s not any actual work being mod of places like this, it’s just having someone there on the off-chance something kicks off.
Ok I missed this because I was too busy being ill and feeling sorry for myself the last few weeks. But it’s fantastic! Love love love Splatoon, I hope it went down well with your friend :D
Fantastic work! I mean at the rate I stitch which people say is fast that would take me…
pulls out calculator
About two weeks and that’s if I stitch every day.
Beginner friendly, yes, but it requires the patience of either somebody really determined to finish it before they burn out, or someone more experienced who doesn’t struggle with common issues that slow them down.
In fact, my first attempt was something as large as this with large solid blocks of colour and I struggled. Hard! The results were dreadful. I’m surprised I didn’t quit back then!
Looks fantastic! You did a really good job, and just in time for Christmas. How long did it take you? I did a similarly sized one as my first project and it took my like 3 years because I kept forgetting about it. Haha.
Sods law, the hosting provider I use is having a power cut in their datacentre, so all servers are down at the moment! Please try again tommorrow sorry!
Hmm, it’s definitely up now and I’ve seen a few signups already. Give it a hard refresh and see if that works, if it persists give me a DM and we can troubleshoot
I love the textured look of the wool! I’m finally almost done with this Snoopy pattern I’m giving to my niece for Christmas! I just have to finish the base and the snowflakes!
Is this one of the hanks that has the thicker plastic label? I don’t think I realized they had a different texture. Good to know it’s annoying. It’s a really nice color, looks shimmery.
Yes the label on this one is one long tube instead of two little ones. It does look nice in the pattern now, I just wish it wasn’t such a pain to deal with lol
I hoard my ORTs in a mason jar against the day I come up with a weird project for them. Considering putting them inside a set of handmade dice, maybe 🤔
I’ve been making lamps lately and someone suggested tassels for a lamp shade so that may be an option too! Either way it’s going to be a while before I have enough 😅
Thanks! I will check them out! I mostly take old broken lamps that are bound for the trash and use the parts to make new ones. This was an old brass lamp from the 80s that my mom asked me to throw away, so of course it went straight into my car lol the shade took a while to make though
Looking good! Last one? You are gonna have so much time for extra crafts over the holidays 😄
I still have no stitching progress to report, although I’m feeling officially mostly recovered from the plague now, just very very tired. But a couple days before getting sick I’d picked up a few more skeins for my Errol project, so today I finally got those onto floss drops in preparation for when I actually feel up to working on it. That counts as progress, right?
Don’t jinx me talking about extra time! Lol! I may make one more if I can finish this one this week, we’ll just have to see… I’m glad you’re feeling better! I think organization counts as progress for sure, and I need to do more of that myself as right now each project is just separated into different grocery bags lol
