Lemmy is the only website that causes my CPU fan to ramp up, other than games or heavy 3D stuff. Why is that?...
What is your email used for when signing up to Lemmy? Is it just for password reset?
Currently if you archive a Lemmy thread you can see all the posts and comments but all replies to all comments are hidden in a “X# more replies ->” which if clicked it tries opening it forever and the replies never load....
Noticed I was logged out of lemmy.ml this morning. When I logged in, everything looked the same, but… “All” loaded instantly. Switching to “Subscribed” was just as fast. Post thumbnails came up as quickly as I could scroll....
The description section on the website may be grammatically incorrect. I can fix it with your suggestions.

Hey I remember a community I liked called Mealtimevideos - not too short, not too long. Just right for lunchtime....
The number of Lemmy instances are growing and the list on join-lemmy is getting bigger and bigger. There are too many instances on the page and it is hard for new user to find which instance is suitable for them....
Hi everyone, I’m having trouble finding a Lemmy instance that works well for me. The main instance I use is down, and most others are too slow. I’m wondering if there’s a way to choose an instance based on latency and the least blocked users. I found two relevant issues on the awesome-lemmy-instances GitHub page: issue #12...
The platform/service is still in beta and opening up invites to its first users now....
So I’m developing a mobile client using React Native, where I’m utilizing Lemmy’s messaging functionality as well. This makes it extremely crucial to have notification support (including push notifications)....

For those who are unfamiliar, the default sorting algorithm on most clients is “Hot” - It’s intended to be closer to “New” than “Top” so people who come to a thread late can have their opinion read....
We can follow lemmy accounts from Mastodon but I was wondering if we can do it the other way round?...
tl;dr: to reduce federation api calls and to reduce issues with defederation, maybe some instances should only be for communities with no user signups, and some instances should be only for user signups with no communities (you would have to make a post or PM to request the admin to make a community for you)...
I’m wondering if there’s any progress on the private communities front? Or any way it could be helped? At some point there was a suggestion that a user story of how it should work would be helpful - is that still the case?...
As it stands right now, individual mods have way too much power to fuck up the platform by banning people for political reasons and the modlog is not even remotely adequate in providing a full story on such actions. This isn’t too big of an issue now, but as certain instances have proven, it has the potential to become a...
About 10 months ago I posted this thread saying that it would be useful for the fediverse to consider post once, share everywhere paradigms: lemmy.ml/post/641509...
Right now Lemmy is unusable for writing code that contains less than/greater than signs because Lemmy’s sanitizer treats that as potentially malicious HTML code....
