Sestren,

Someone needs to get these seniors into Smash Bros. Then when one of them tries to organize a local tournament we can see “Nintendo Shuts Down Senior Citizen Video Game Tournament” as a followup headline. 🍿

dzaffaires,

Making money is seen as wholesome now?

  1. They’re providing the consoles to these centres themselves.
  2. Even if they were, making money and doing something “wholesome” are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
Poutinetown,

They are providing it for free right? Not mentioned in the article but I guess it is implied.

Son_of_dad,

I used to work at a retirement/nursing home. The healthiest, most mentally sharp old man in that place, was this old guy who was always playing Wii whenever I’d start my shift. He’d play Wii sports and later on you’d see him playing big brain academy or some other puzzle games. I still insist that’s why he was always so sharp, he kept his mind and body active with gaming.

jose1324,

Isn’t this literally proven with studies? Gaming stimulates your mind and keeps you sharp

Son_of_dad,

This was a while who, Wii days, so I think the idea of it being used for the elderly was still pretty new and alot of people would wave away the thought
