Any guesses as to why some inbox comment replies disappear when I click through to the post?

*Not a major issue - just curious

I post a lot, so I wind up seeing hundreds of comment replies in my inbox per day. I frequently notice that comments I’ve read from my inbox will be gone when I click through to the post to reply. Has anyone else experienced this? I probably see it happen 10x per day.

My (uninformed) guesses:

  • Some weird federation issue? Could it be loading the comment and then be filtering it out?
  • Maybe lots of people write their comment, then delete it?

I’m pretty sure it’s comments deleted because when I check the thread that comment is no longer there.

I think it’s probably deleted/removed comments or sometimes I see wacky stuff with something saying there are more comments but when I click load it doesn’t load any (maybe because federation issues maybe because someone deleted a parent comment not sure)

Hundreds of replies is impressive though lol

It has to be something like that. I figure you would definitely have seen some of this too. lol

I don’t think it’s people deleting it. I’ve had a few comment replies that just say “comment deleted by user”.

Maybe it only says that if the deleted comment has replies?

I think its if a parent comment was deleted
