neptune,

Sounds like pale ale as a cocktail

Have a favorite amaro or other amaro cocktails to suggest?

mpg,

One of my favorites that includes an amaro is Paper Planes, by Sam Ross (¾ oz each of bourbon, Nonino Quintessentia Amaro, Aperol, and lemon juice; shaken with ice and strained into a coupe).

But that isn’t really an amaro drink, it just has some in it… you might like the Wandering Path, from Jeffrey Morganthaler (perhaps subbing the n/a amaro he uses for an alcoholic one). Here’s another, from Smuggler’s Cove, the Cosa Nostra #2.

Let me know what you think if you try any of these!

RBWells,

I agree with paper plane but double the bourbon or it’s too sweet. So 1 oz bourbon 1/2 oz everything else, or 2 oz bourbon 1 oz everything else, depends on the day.

My favorite Amaro forward drink is 1/3 Heirloom Pineapple Amaro, 1/3 bourbon, 1/3 pineapple juice or tepache, juice of half a lime or quarter of a lemon.

You can also just shake with ice any Amaro, hard, with just a tiny little bit of lemon and sweet, and few grains of salt. Pour over crushed ice and enjoy - add sparkling water if it’s too dense for you to taste - this lets you really taste and understand the flavor and is nice as an aperitif. A spritz of any of them is another way to do that.

_thebrain_,

Looks super refreshing. Quintessentia is my favorite amaro… I’ll definitely have to try this.
