My ex from Norway mentioned how unusual it was that so many places and people here fly our flag (USA), so I was curious to hear what it’s like for others here on the fediverse.
I’ve contributed to the project for a few months and used it for over a year and I still don’t know the difference. I think I asked the maintainers once, but I forget the answer.
Not willing to give them ideas so fast....
I recently made a PR for default PFPs. I was thinking of using using a priority of user set pfp > instance default pfp > Lemmy lemming. Is this something people would actually want?...
In my early 20s, I got tinnitus even though in the rare occasion I’m around loud noises I wear hearing protection....
Today I was made aware that beehaw.org blocked my entire instance. I would be ok if I simply could not write a post/comment in beehaw, that would be reasonable....
I apologize if this has been asked before, but I’m wondering if it would be feasible to implement a new approach to defederation that offers the option of choosing between complete or partial defederation from another instance....
What it says on the title. Mine was when I was 12 and I lived in a very haunted house which had some weird activity going on, like things moving out of place and pets freaking out. I was sitting in the computer, alone in the house, and suddenly I see a shadowy figure on the screen, just some meters away behind me, thinking was...
Something akin to /r/twoxchromosomes....
I’m trying to register but the register button keeps circling forever.
Title. Could be apps or websites.
They don’t even want you to use the website I don’t think. They’ve even done experiments where they blocked people from using the mobile website. The more they want me to use their app, the more I want to avoid Reddit all together.
Serious question, as I‘ve barely seen any mention of Lemmy on Reddit. None of the Mod posts regarding the Blackout mentioned Lemmy as far as I‘m aware. Would it be against the TOS to start a coordinated promotion?
Whatcha up to this blackout eve? How are you spending it? Anything you’ve made more time for? Do any of you feel antsy? Lmk! :)
I had an idea that I wanted to run by people that are more familiar with lemmy and decentralized hosting. I've run it by some people I know but they don't have the familiarity with the fediverse to have it easily explained. The idea is not fully fleshed out so would love any sort of criticism or refinement this group could...
Let’s say Lemmy acquires the critical mass of users, continues to gain in popularity. Eventually someone will offer a large sum of money, the platform grows, new owners look towards an IPO, the goals shift, yadayada… How is different this time?
If Reddit were to revert it’s changes to 3rd party apps would you stay on Lemmy or move back to Reddit?
Seriously. I dont get it.
