lemmy apps you should try and experiment with

I made a folder with my fav lemmy apps that I tried so far, and they are sorted by favorite to less favorite. By far, wefwef is my most used and I do switch to lifoff sometimes. Also, the official lemmy app is really not bad compared to reddit’s official app. I would say try all of them and see which one works the best for you. waiting for sync and boost to launch. let me know if you have any other suggestions I haven’t tried yet.

Keep seeing people talk about wefwef, but I can’t even find it to download

I see Connect, Jerboa, Lemmotif, and Liftoff

Oh, didn’t realize it wasn’t in the Play store

FWIW, Wefwef is a progressive web app, not a native app.

iByteABit,

Doesn’t work for me. I have Android and I used DuckDuckGo initially but there wasn’t any install option, then I used Firefox and clicked Install from the settings while I was on the homepage and on the settings/install page but neither did anything, they just moved me to the app launcher (my home screen).

Huschke,

It’s because duckduckgo at least historically did not support PWAs.

iByteABit,

Still didn’t work on Firefox though

Chrome probably works the best for PWAs, maybe try some Chromium alternatives to see if works properly.

iByteABit,

You’re right, it installed without problem on Chrome, I’m writing this from wefwef

RedditWanderer,

Connect works well for me on Pixel6! I feel they are fixing stuff too because it has less and less quirks every day

It's not an app, it's a website that resembles an app. Apollo, specifically.

Looks like lemmotif is in super beta and can’t even add an account. It does load pretty quickly though.

brnn,

I'm also using Memmy for iOS, but it's under beta on TestFlight.
https://github.com/gkasdorf/memmy

Also tried wefwef. It looks cool and all, but it's a web app in the end. Not really a fan of those and they tend to consume more battery than the native experience.

Reverendender,

Why did I just sign up for GitHub?

You don't need an account to download releases, but now that you have an account I think it's the universe telling you to pick up programming and to give your soul to the GitHub like the rest of us.

Call me stupid but I refuse to try Connect due to its terrible icon.

Jk, happy with Liftoff

Coeus,

Are you taking about the new oe old icon?

Kahroo,

I’m using Thunder and I’m liking it while I wait for Sync for Lemmy to be released.

HouseMouse,

If Thunder could fix its bugs and add more ui customization the it’d be golden.

obosob,

Yeah, I like it for the most part but really am not a fan of the swipe gestures.

Coeus,

I wasn’t a fan of the gestures either but I got use to them quickly and they aren’t bad.

Coeus,

Thunder has fixed the majority of it’s bugs, it just lacks a few features how but the dev is already working on adding more.

Thanks for this comment, I hadn’t heard of thunder yet (been using liftoff, jerboa, and connect). So far thunder is the new best of the bunch!

IndomitableAlbus,

I was using Connect but recently switched to Liftoff, just seems a little bit nicer.

IndomitableAlbus,

Just tried the GitHub release but posts fail

Cries in kbin.

Workaround: create a Lemmy account and subscribe to your favorite Kbin magazines.

I'm finding Kbin's PWA perfectly fine for now, honestly! I'll likely switch to an app once there's a good one available, but I don't feel like my experience is bad right now.

S_204,

Jerboa has been useless for me.

Even liftoff has struggled. I’m hoping that things stabilize over the coming weeks.

DarkThoughts,

They all kinda suck at this stage.

right now I’m using Jerboa and Connect. I liked connect because the UI it’s pretty similar with Sync
